OT: Prayer Request Please

Hi Folks,

I know I don't post too often on RCTN anymore, and without being presumptuous, may I ask for your prayers and good thoughts, please??? I will have outpatient surgery tomorrow in Springfield (IL) on both my hips for a procedure that might help to prolong and/or prevent the eventual need for total hip replacements. The procedure is known as "core decompression (of the femoral heads)." Sounds fun, hunh? I only hope I get good meds to help me sleep since I never knowingly sleep on me back! Actually, I hope to be in "la-la land" most of the time post-surgery for 24-48 hours, or so (?!?!?!!).

What irks me most is the awful timing of this blasted surgery -- I won't be able to ride my bicycle anytime soon, and it's nearly Spring and the weather is finally turning toward the pleasant side of not-so-cold (argh!). I've been told I should expect to be outta commission and on crutches for 4-6 weeks (depending.....).

I do not recomment this method to take time off of work, I must say . I definitely gotta say I'd rather use vacation time for other purposes than surgery. But, perhaps I may just get to do some needlework over the next coupla weeks or so (?!).

Thanks so much and Sweet Stitching!!!!!

My thoughts are with you Helen that this procedure goes well and that it will give you some quality time before needing hip replacements. All the best...please let us know how you are doing when you are able.

Very good luck, I am sure you will reap benefits from the surgery, it just has to be 'got through' - you'll handle it !

hugs & positive thoughts. Sounds like you have a good surgeon. DO YOUR REHAB. And don't be surprised if they want you to sit up and be weight bearing pretty quickly (even though it's assisted weight bearing w/ crutches/walker :)) S

Thoughts - prayers - and hugs be with you. Maybe you'll be able to get a long delayed stitching project underway as well. (There HAS to be a silver lining in this somewhere.)
