Our store bookclub has picked The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie as our next read. Have just started it, and am packing it to travel. Looks good.

I'm halfway through "Major Pettigrew's Last Stand" and loving every paragraph of it. I feel I should read faster, because I have several library books to get through before the due date, but I find myself "dragging my feet" for the sheer enjoyment of the characters and descriptions. It's a first novel, and I hope NOT the last!

I'm in the middle of T Jefferson Parker's "The Renegades." I love most of what he writes as much for the locations (he knows LA, Orange County and SoCal) as the story.

Also reading the newest biography of Louisa May Alcott by Harriet Reisen. Her father (Louisa's) was a strange bird.

The TJ Parker was a easier transport for waiting in Drs offices Monday and Tuesday.

I'm reading Brava Valentine by Adriana Trigiani. This is the second in a series that will eventually be three. That was recommended by someone here, but I can't remember who. Fun to read. It's about a coutere cobbler and I'm learning a lot about shoemaking. The other plus is that it takes place partially in New York and mentions places I know and love.

Oddly the first book starts out in a wedding palace that I went to for several catered weddings and bar mitzvahs and ends on the block I worked on,
