Niece Ashley has a birthday on March 21. She doesn't quilt but just yesterday announced her engagement to be married so maybe it would be a good day to start a wedding quilt? I suppose the brown bears are waking up just about now. Bet that is a cute quilt. Taria

Not sure what I will work on tomorrow but I will be at the sewing machine while DH sleeps (on nights this weekend).

I'll be hoping to finish up the baby quilt I need to mail off to my nephew's new little one. :)

I will definitely be working on a quilt. I have two which must be finished by Tuesday evening. They are not started yet! and you must have heard how slowly I work >g< However, they are not going to be pieced (I have found a few adorable pre-printed panels) and I am going to birth them, so I think I do have a chance; but coffee breaks will be short >gHowdy!

Dh and I will be working on the backing for "Quiltus Gigantus". I have 12

6'x6' sections all ready to piece together. Last weekend he helped me get the top all put together. Then we should be ready to ship it to DS and who knows what's in store for it after that! I hope to have pictures after the weekend.

I'll definitely be spending part of my day hand-piecing my Irish Chain. Thanks for the excuse! (as if I needed one in the middle of my workday to quilt LOL)

Well, I've been 'dinged' at already. I'm appliquéing a school of fish into a background of water the pale green aqua that just takes your breath away at Destin, FL. I moved to the next fish, forgot to put the presser foot down and imperious Miss Bernina said 'Ding!'. (Translation: put the foot down, stupid.) She's been here nearly a year and I had no idea she could talk. Guess I've been doing to suit her - up until now. Polly

I'm going to actually quilt today, instead of starting a new top. I have nine (!!!!!) all basted together. I think I'll start with the little ones, two 36" sq ones, and then some 45" square ones as well.

(Polly - a *talking* Bernina? Wow!!)

So far no quilting but the night is not over yet!! Went with DH to Vicksburg, Ms. to the Civil War Battlefield--very interesting. A beautiful day for a drive, too. Now to get to the sewing room for a little quilting before the day is over.

I know, replying to myself is extremely bad form. Please forgive me. So, I've not actually managed to put needle to fabric today, but I have accomplished several quilty things. I went looking for my cable stencil this morning, and thought "why is this such a mess?". So, I sorted my painting stencils separate from my quilting stencils, put the painting ones away, and hung the quilting ones on the wall in segregated groups, borders, blocks, all-over, etc. Then, I stared at the Baby Quilt some more. Finally!!! Kokopellis in the brown/yellow triangle border, big X from skinny black to skinny black, in both directions, southwestern eagles in the triangles that leaves. I have all of the designs traced onto quilting paper, and should be able to at least get started on the thread part tomorrow. Baby quilt is happy now, and so am I. Going to have pizza with youngest DS and DGS and watch Wall-E. I'm such a sucker for kids movies. Wonder what that says about me? Whatever.

This may be the first National Quilting Day I've ever gotten to quilt! Finished putting the borders on a not-very-exciting baby quilt. Watched the 2nd HQ16 video on border quilting, and something must've gotten through--I'd planned a simple meander, and suddenly found myself doing leaves and loops and flowers!! Since I didn't start quilting 'til after 10pm, I decided to stop after before having to advance the quilt, rather than risk sleepy disaster, but have the top border and about 1/4 of the inside done. Actually, I want to do the side borders as I go, and that motion--forward and back--feels more foreign than side to side, so there's still a little to do before rolling. Call me chicken... but I'm a happy chicken--so far, it looks pretty good!

I didn't actually manage to quilt, but I did watch a quilting DVD (one of Patsy Thompson's) for a couple of hours. I hope that counts. Oh, and I fondled some fabric, too!

I am in the process of playing catch-up with the class samples that should already be done. So yesterday (Sat./National Quilting Day) I managed to trim the quilt that I quilted the day before, cut the binding for it, and made a set of Purse-Nickities. (That is one of my favorite Lazy Girl Patterns and all three bags are made from the same base unit. ) Today I plan to get the binding on the quilt and hopefully quilt another that is ready, and maybe sew together the parts for another. (The block and border units are trimmed and ready to go, just need to assemble the blocks, add sashing and borders.)

That's about what I did ... work on some blocks to share. I also tidied my cutting area and washed some fabric, so I got a fabric fix. The rest of the time I was out shopping for a new stash mobile! Pat in Virginia

I didn't get any quilting done yesterday -- though did do about 8 miles on my bike, as it was a gorgeous spring day. I made up for the quilting today, though. I spent much of the day hand quilting my "Adoration" quilt. I got all the blocks together a week or two ago. Last week, I added the borders and got it sandwiched and basted. I'm almost done quilting the center section. It will be quilted quite heavily, especially the background areas, as I want the figures to "pop". Maybe one of these days I'll update the progress report on my website.

I managed to get 30 scrappy pineapple blocks finished (from quiltville.com). Yesterday I squared up all the cut-off half square triangles, and stitched them into pinwheels for the border. Still have to get some pin basting done.....

Okay, Pat, don't keep us in suspense! What's the new stashmobile like?
