And if you are in California, this is a good weekend to buy a car. Our state sales tax goes up 1% as of Wednesday April 1st - and it ain't no joke. Very few of the counties keep just the State amount, without adding on a county district tax too. For example, here in Ventura County the sales tax will be 8.25% [the new standard State Sales Tax], in Los Angeles County it will be 9.25% [includes a 1% District Tax for that county]. and to muddle things further, some cities have a second district tax. I believe the highest tax will be Alameda County - where San Francisco is- at 9.75%
Like we can afford this increase.
