A friend who has built a multi-million dollar home (a specially high basement so they can haul their 43 ft yacht into it so they can work on it during the winter, lol) reports the same thing, the heating needs to be set at a comfort level, then left there until spring because you can't just turn it up for the evening, or off for the night. Over the length of the winter she finds there are too many times she would like it a little warmer or cooler, but it takes too long to adjust.
