OT - Waiting is over

I'm a grammy again!!! Yesterday (June 20th) while at the doctor's office, my DIL was experiencing abdominal pains. According to my son, the doctor got on the phone with the hospital and told 'em in very strong words that despite their policy of not inducing a C-section prior to one week before the official due date which would've been Monday, it was time to do the procedure.

I was the first grammy to be to get to the hospital and then we had to wait until DIL was 'recovered' to visit. It's amazing how different things are today. When I had my kids, it took a Presidential edict to get the father into the delivery room; now it's standard. Babies were kept behind glass in nurseries except for a few visits to the parents each day. Now, they stay in the room and only leave if/when the parents need a break. Fathers (most of 'em) held babies for pictures and rarely fed or changed diapers. Now, most of very involved.

Once I come down from Cloud 9, I'll finish their birth announcement stitchery.

Congrats, glad everything is safely over.

My husband was Royal Navy, didn't get to hold his son for pics or anything else until Neil was 16 months. It is very different though, I noticed the last time we were all sat down for a dinner that the youngest g-granddaughter was passed around the table (she was about a year) and none of the grandsons dipped out on holding her for awhile. It's a good thing.

Maxeltov to the whole family!! Are you stitching the birth announcement that says something about "two peas in a pod"? We'll need a photo of the twins and the stitching -- when it's finished, of course. CiaoMeow >^;;^<
