OT: Weather

It is cold, cold, COLD down here in the northwest corner of Louisiana. No snow, not even sleet, just light rain, but lots of wind to blow the cold front in....brrrrrr.

How are the rest of y'all faring out there?

No school today or tomorrow, and the governor's declared a state of emergency for twenty-some counties, including ours. Wind chills tonight expected to be below zero. We've got five inches or so of snow (on top of half an inch of ice) and it's still falling. Gotta love Kansas.

Here in mid-Missouri, it's sleeting and snowing - we're supposed to have 10-14" by morning with blizzard conditions overnight. The temps are in the low 20s and are supposed to dip down in the teens (9 tomorrow night!).

My office has already said the chances are good we're closed tomorrow - free stitching time!

Below zero -- that I just don't think I can do. I'm a Southern girl, born and bred, and I just don't think thermometers here go down that low.

Here in the south east corner of Wisconsin, we're very cold, expecting 8-11 inches by the morning, there's a flood warning in Kenosha till 9:50 tonite, don't what we'll get in Racine. Any way you look at it, YUCK! Carol In WI

Here in Salt Lake City, Utah we have had cold, cold weather. It has been more like January rather than November. Had snow and cold temps which made driving really iffy since the salt slurry they use on some of the roads does not work when temps dip below 20. Parts of Utah, mostly in the Logan and Unitah Mountains areas have been bitter cold with temps -21 yesterday in some of the areas.

We get the cold and snow here but this cold this early is just not nice. At least we are getting some snow so skiing is looking better.

It was at least 15C here in Upper Coverdale, New Brunswick, Canada, .. very weird, almost eerie. I would much rather the cold weather come and settle in for a while - far healthier than this stuff. Everyone's snorting and blowing and coughing. I'm sure we won't have to put up with it much longer tho'. Forecast is rain tonight, freezing rain in the AM, then a bit of snow.

Here in Upper Coverdale, N.B., Canada, it has been 15C all day and probably tonight too - I wore far too many clothes walking the dog up the road tonight. Don't like this stuff - much prefer that the cold settle in for a while. Did any of you hear that New Brunswickers were considered the happiest people in Canada of all other provinces? I thought that was pretty neat ... and accurate too. :-))

We've had frost and freeze warnings all week. A bit unusual for this early in the winter. They keep talking about record lows and we keep managing to just avoid getting that reward for putting up with this.

No white stuff here in the valley, but they have been getting it up in the hills.

Giggling up here in Edmonton, where we haven't had temperatures above freezing for quite a while. We spent the last 2 weeks with daytime highs below 0 F.

I woke up this morning and did a happy dance when I found out the temperature was *only* -12 C (10 F). Compared to the -40 (C or F - it's the same temperature) wind chills we had 2 days ago, it felt down right warm. I even walked across campus several times today w/o a coat, as the high was -4 C (25 F). I guess it's all what you're acclimated to.

It's been disgustingly warm and dead calm here in Magnoliaville (aka North Atlanta area). I had the house open all day and into the night! It was 68F at 9:00 PM when I was coming home from Michael's this evening! Apparently this is the calm before the storm. All the weather mavens are saying the nasty cold front torturing Louisiana and environs is on its way here. We're off to Hilton Head and Savannah for our anniversary this weekend. Hope we don't get any rain! Cold I can deal with but sight seeing in the rain isn't my cuppa T. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Not bad in ND. We had a combination rain/sleet/slush/snow the day before yesterday and it's gotten pretty cold (0 last night) but none of that is unusual for late Nov. The roads had gotten slushy and then froze so we're still dealing with partly icy roads but the sun today has helped remove some of it. I did get out my down coat and leather mittens. :) Forecast is for the teens & 20s with some light snow the next few days. Snowmobilers will be happy!

Pouring rain here tonight. High wind warning (up to 60 mph) tomorrow and the rain is supposed to go to freezing rain/sleet and then snow by tomorrow night. I'm not leaving the house! Just hope power doesn't go out.

Still better than the typhoon that hit the Philippines.

N'awlins has the most AWESOME thunderstorms. We used to sit in the driveway & watch them come north over the lake. When the hair on your arms started standing on end, it was time to go inside. We just don't get many of those storms up here in MN. I still miss them sometimes.

We sit on the front porch and watch them - until the rain starts driving towards us at a 45 degree angle, then we retreat indoors.
