el clutzo strikes again

I managed to do it again. Went to the doctor today w/ bizarre tearing pain in my shoulder, worried it was something to do with the fibro b/c it happened just like this in my other shoulder a year ago - turns out I have a torn muscle. Best we can figure is that I did it lifting boxes out of the truck after the tailgate handle broke, so had to lift them over the side. They weren't heavy, but they were almost as tall as me, so it was awkward. This after I dislocated my knee sitting down last week - whacked it on the desk stand & boom, out it went, kneecap on the side of the leg. Oh well, at least it's hard for me to break things this way!

What IS the matter with us all? Are we all on self destruct?

Take care. I got an electric heat pad for my ribs, which has helped a lot - not all that expensive, and I`m sure that someone in the family will need one from time to time!

Us clutzes need to stick together!

I saw my ortho because my ankles have been sore on and off all fall...thought it might be related to the FMS, but wanted to double check.

Nope! It's lumps on the ligaments in my ankles, from all the spraining I've done to them over the years.

Caryn

Youch! You make sure you baby that shoulder for a few days to let it heal. Hmmm, let's see....I know! You can stitch! :):):) See? There's always a bright side to things!

Oh moan! hugs - gentle hugs!

Oooh you have my sympathy. I hurt my shoulders 7 years ago in a car accident and still have trouble now. You don't realise how much you use your shoulders until they hurt when you do!

Rest and I hope your pain diminishes soon,

I'll second that. Mine tend to lock in the down position, making getting dressed a real contortionist exercise. Never mind trying to get a mug from the cupboard shelf. Fortunately, XS in-hand does not require movement in the shoulders (though working on scrolls does) -- thank God for minis and ornaments!

So sorry. Be careful. Rest, ice, painkillers, whatever. Don't lift things over the side of the truck. And feel better,

Well, at least now I can get DH to do most of the housework for a few days (weeks?).. more time to sit & stitch!

Ah, now that's the right silver lining!

Take care, Ellice

Sounds to me like you have the perfect excuse to simply sit and stitch, with some medicinal chocolate nearby.

And I second Caryn's thought, we clutzos need to stick together. I fell on the ice/packed snow not once, but *twice* on my way across campus today. And I can't even blame the beer, as this was before I got to the club. LOL. I did manage to avoid falling on the wrist that has carpal tunnel, so that's something. (Nothing compared to a torn shoulder muscle, I'm sure!)

Poor thing. Well, at least if after the beer you'd just relax and bounce 'n roll. So, aside from not wearing a jacket, you've just got to give up on the spike heels, eh! Or do we take up a collection to send you the grippy things that go over your shoes so you can walk on ice.

Personally, I'm totally paranoid about such things, and having had a couple of leg sureries that meaan no-weight bearing casts - in the winter - yuck.

Hope the bruises were only to your dignity.

Ellice - who still likes to wear her clogs in the snow, but, but, ...

The thing is, I wasn't even wearing stupid "girl" boots - no heel, lots of traction. (Granted I like boots with nice heels as much as the next girl, just not practical for walking around here.) However, nothing really gives you traction on ~1 in of ice. Well, maybe skates would. And the temps were back down to -20 C yesterday, so I was wearing the appropriate outerwear this time. ;-)

I completely understand, as I'm paranoid about falling and catching myself w/my wrists.

I was a bit stiff this morning, but no bruises. I was pretty amused by the reaction of my companion when I fell - a fellow grad student, about

10 yr my junior, who is doing research with DH. He was quite concerned that I might have gotten hurt. Very sweet. So, not even very big bruises to my dignity. (And the grad student and I got busted; another faculty memeber spotted us at the club... and DH was out of town. The scandal. LOL. Very amusing.)

Oh, so do I, I just don't like the wet socks that are a result.
