Yep. I've gotten so acclimatized that in summer I complain about 90 feeling a mite chilly. And say things like "only 110" and "cooling trend to 108" with a completely straight face.
Allllllllllll together now, desert dwellers, "but it's a DRY heat!" :)
Still fairly pleasant here in the mid-Atlantic states. They say the cold front is due here later today. Sadly too late in the day to get me out of work early! lol
Here's an open invitation to anyone who is annoyed with their weather. Come on down!! Here in Port St Lucie, FL it's 76 f and expected to go up to about 85 this afternoon.
It's too warm for me, but for those of you who are snowbound, I guess it sounds great.
Right now, for Day 2 - it's muggy, muggy, heavy, and warm - close to 70. But, we're supposed to get hit hard with a freeze either on the overnight or for the weekend.
Ellice > Here in mid-Missouri, it's sleeting and snowing - we're supposed to
You gloater, you....It is warm here now - but the air is really heavy. And DH just told me to go move some plants that he's going to finally put in the ground tomorrow.
I'm with you Mickey. It was VERY cold and a little unusual for this early in the winter. I *wish* it were warm enough to rain! It's been so cold I still haven't put up my Christmas lights. That NEEDS to happen this weekend while it's still *somewhat* mild.
Ditto from Sue in Baltimore, Maryland. I turned off the furnaces and opened windows and doors this morning for a last good airing out - I'll take it when I can get it! It's drizzling now, and gloomy with heavy air. The kind of day that's miserable for asthmatics and arthritics. Barometric pressure will be crashing this evening.

Well, things have gone downhill here since I wrote this morning. Temps dropped a good 20 degrees (F) and those have gusted over 50 mph A LOT. Sounds like jets taking off overhead. Also had a bit of sleet and snow with more coming. I've gone outside a couple of times to bring in mail and gather up neighbors garbage cans and lawn furniture since they are at work and the stuff will certainly be gone by then. The wind takes your breath away! It was a struggle to carry a patio seat cushion (which couldn't have weighed more than three pounds) because it kept wanting to do the kite thing. Lights have flickered a couple of times but haven't gone out yet. Haven't looked at local news though. The heavy rains of last night/this morning have caused some flooding problems in the counties between here and Lake Erie but we're on high ground right here. {Homebuying hint: Higher ground in the region is often found in a county/township/city with "Portage" in the name.}
Well here in Brooklyn we had clouds; sprinkles of rain; then while we were at dinner we had absolutely pouring drenching rain, thunder and lightning. Fortunately (for us) it let up and by the time we left (and it was a long dinner) it was dry again. And it's still warm, it felt like a chinook this evening!
Silly girl - at least wear an open jacket - so you don't invite something to attack in the cold. But, hey, you're in Edmonton! One of my grad school classmates was from there, he was the only one thinking the weather in Pittsburgh was fine. I, OTOH, was hiking across campus in early November, with snow up over the knees muttering - so - just a couple of months ago I was crossing campus in sandals and shorts. I could've stayed in those shorts - what's wrong with me? Now, of course, I wouldn't give up the winter season.
It's been so unseasonably warm and humid for 2 days, that the outdoor rink in Chevy Chase could now be called the CC Swimming Pool - the ref scheduler had to notify all of us to "call first" before heading over there to skate - as it seems unlikely for a day or so til the storm hits here and freezes things again.
At this point in time, when it's much too warm here in FL, I would love to trade this for Brooklyn. It's where I was born, it's where I lived for most of my life and it will always be my home town. Boy do I miss it, crummy weather and all.
I actually turned on the a.c. The humidity was killing my sinuses - I'm pretty sure that I'm still in a psuedo-tumor episode with my headaches, etc. But, my ankles/foot & bone spur hadn't been bothering me, and today, I'm limping like an old, broken down thing - thinking now the weather has gotten everything swollen. So, this too shall pass.
Same here. We had amazing wind gusts going on. But the temp stayed high
60s until evening. Then it seemed between 6 & 8 pm it dropped a good 20 degrees. So, now I've switched off the a.c. - and back to heat - but it's set on 62. Haven't had any power problems here - though at the knitting store they'd had some outage from the wind.
But... but... but... my parka was on the 4th floor of another (connected) building; it really was quicker to was across the quad than to get the parka. And I had on 2 layers as it was.
I totally agree. I much prefer the cold to the hot, humid summers that the DC area gets. Yuck.
LOL. You could probably skate on the sidewalks around here....
