My local LNS talked me into this because of the colorway I needed. I had asked for silk ribbon. When I got home it is rayon. Has anyone used this ?

Just as there are differences in silk ribbon, there are differences in rayon ribbon. The only way to know if it works is try to try it. If it's not "stiff, it should work similarly to the better silk ribbons. I've used rayon ribbon satisfactorily.

What are you using it for?
I've used it for quite a few things.

Yes and I don't like using them. I dampen the thread when I use it, just ever so slightly, makes it more manageable.
I am using it in parterre work so french knots. Only a few scattered in the piece but then the piece is only 2 inches.
Dampen the thread? Do you mean dampen the ribbon? A nice rayon ribbon shouldn't need to be dampened. Not sure if a stiff one would work nicely whether or not dampened, since it would spring back to its original "form" when dry. Unless the dampening permanently changed its character. Not sure about that one.
I didn't know Rainbow Gallery made ribbon. Dianne
I thought the OP referred to rayon threads, not ribbon.
Neon Rays is ribbon, but Rainbow Gallery does recommend dampening the ribbon as one way to get the kinks out ;-)
Best wishes, Ericka
Neon Rays is a woven rayon ribbon, just a bit more than 1/16" wide. Ribbon Floss (often found in quilt shops or embroidery shops catering to crazy quilters) is very similar in size and construction, and can be used almost interchangeably.
Rainbow Gallery makes thread of various sizes and materials, and ribbons as well.
Neon Rays tends to narrow where it is bent around the cards RG sells it on. RG recommends dampening it to get the narrow parts out.

Does that make me wrong/right ? Certainly rayon floss does well slightly dampened, it tames it down while you get the stitches done. It's not something I really like working with but it does give a lovely sheen.
For storing the floss, I braid it, having cut it to workable lengths. That works well as I can then gently pull out the strands I want.
All that and the OP was asking about something else lol
OP means what ?
I think it means Original Poster ??

You would be right - I find it difficult to remember PB Sievert, knew I would probably get it wrong so used a bit of usenet talk.
