Sheena was here!!!

I spent about 4 hours with Sheena and her friend Verena, (who is interested in becoming a GOW and has certainly got the right teacher!), last night, just talking, and the time flew by. Kindred spirits. Sheena asked me to send greetings. She is a tad bent out of shape that her laptop won't connect at the moment, the fault of some of our Western telephone companies, and is going to give the place she rented it from a firm talking to when she gets home--so that is why we are not hearing her adventures. She is looking forward to seeing Joan, Cheryl, Elizabeth and others, and warns Fred to keep vaccuuming Chillkoot. They leave this morning for Calgary. I am delighted to have finally met in person such a bright, passionate, warm and intelligent woman. Dawne

Even after the wine was flowing? Isn`t she great, though! I don`t envy the place she rented the laptop from when she gets back, all the same!

Verena must be a ready trained GOW if she`s Sheena`s friend - or she wouldn`t have survived being shut in a car with her for weeks!

Well, I'm glad I gave her the phone numbers! I'd be jealous, but my turn is coming!

Pity the company that rented her that laptop - maybe I should send them a warning!!! :-)) She's a doll tho' - she just doesn't take any crap from anybody - gotta admire that. We'll have to make Verena a very special GOW if she survives this whole trip ... me thinks Pat may have strangled her by now. (ay, Pat???) :-))

............................................................................ Who? Verena? I don`t even know her!

As for Sheena - well I don`t THINK I`d strangle her, we`d have too much fun arguing! What people don`t realise is that most of our ranting is done with a laugh! It doesn`t always come out in print, but once you know someone you can read between the lines!

Would someone care to explain what "GOW" stands for? I keep seeing the acronym, but don't quite have a handle on what it means (or maybe I shouldn't ask ?).

You're so right Pat - and NO, not Verena - Sheena!!! Course you knew that. I can't get over the fact that she's actually doing this big trip - that's a lot of territory to cover. The girls are having a hoot tho' - what's more important than that?

Thanks, Cheryl. I kind of thought so, but wasn't sure. I've been considered a 'grumpy old witch" enough times to count('specially with a Halloween BD!).

Yes Carey - it means Grumpy Old Woman - we freely admit that we fit that shoe quite often - and we're proud of it. It's all in fun, however, and our 'membership' is growing day by day. :-))

It sorta reminds me of that film about these three old boys driving off on a long trip - more or less to prove to themselves that they were still alive. Can`t remember the cast, but one was George Burns. It was hilarious and sad in places. Wish I could remember what it was called - I`d like to get the DVD.

Not that I`m suggesting that Sheena needs to prove that she`s still alive!!!

Check IMDB.com -- search "George Burns" and it'll give you a list of his movies. Perhaps the titles alone will ring bells. Otherwise, you can click on each of the titles and there's a plot summary.

Wow - I know Sheena is quick - really quick - but when I saw the subject line 'Sheena Was Here' - I thought she was back to her bad ways of speeding on the open highways - 0 to 200 from Alberta, Canada, to San Diego, Ca. I know she'd love to do it tho'. :-))
