So - what are you stitching

I'm working on Lora Perin's Amethyst Dreams, in Donna's luscious colorway of black/silver. Very dramatic and interesting and probably my last geometric needlepoint/bargello piece for a while.

While I haven't stitched since before the deluge last week, I've been working on Little House Needelworks "The Bookshelf." I've spent my time cleaning up the yard and the basement after 4 inches of rain in less than 6 hours made quite a mess. We had a river going down the street, over the curbs. Fortunately we're on the high side and only had water that seeped below the window wells and the usual back wall of the cellar. Neighbors lost furnaces, and pile of stuff.

Big freaking model for X's and O's (Jo Gatenby). It's going to take me until at least September or October. I started it in April, and am spending at least an hour a day (often 3-4 hours) on it.

Part of it, is that I'm proofreading the chart as I go, and marking all obvious errors or omissions.

Quite cute pattern though. I'll ask Jo if I can post a picture at RCTNP when I'm finished the stitching.

I'm just working on a cheap little kit (I think Dimensions) that caught my eye while wandering the aisles at Joann's. It's a little piece of just a hot pink "M" with a little princess crown of gold beads on the top of it that'll be perfect stuffed into a little decorative pillow for my daughter. I thought it'd be a quickie do, but I never seem to find much time to stitch in order to get it finished. I'm also working on finishing up another crocheted blanket for her that I started after she was born (blanket #3). I've been having a lot of trouble with my hand and arm the past few weeks which is making crocheting difficult (stitching too). Hopefully that goes away soon--I have no idea what's causing it.

not stitching at the moment, but acquiring some interesting stuff. I just ordered some orange and yellow checked fabric and the threads in pinks and purples to complete a piece from Stitch Graffiti (Heather Holland Daly of Monster Bubbles) --Follow your Truth. And I ordered in the whole set of Pride and Prejudice Samplers we talked about earlier this year (The Stitching Parlour, IIRC) but those will be a winter pleasure. Traditional Stitches in Calgary is my source for all these goodies--fellow Canadians take note, they are very very good. I do need to start something--was stash searching last night. I think it might be Monster Bubbles Lizzy Border design, which suits my current mood entirely.

Thanks. With no rain since Sat and 80+ temps we are drying out.

Today I finally visited the only LNS left without driving clear to the other side of Pittsbugh. It's all needlepoint with almost all painted canvases. But... I discovered they have Watercolors and other specialty threads I was figuring I'd have to order online. I picked a colorways for Laura Perin's Winter Wind. As soon as I make more progress on the xs I'll start it. Too bad they didn't have any charts.

I'm making a real effort on finishing "And a Forest Grew" in time for the state fair this year. We'll see....it can always go next year!

I'd like to change the wording on it, and the past two weeks there have been alternate bible verses read in church that I like better than the Genesis verse on the chart. We'll see - I'm keeping my ears open!

Also crocheting a beautiful baby blanket. I try to do a little on each project every day.

I'm still working on my stuffed Nativity set. I'm close to finishing the first side of the 2nd shepherd so, once I finish his other side, I think all I have left is the 3 wise men and 2 camels! WooHoo!

On a related note, our county fair starts Wed. and I got the pic of the St. Bernard, "Chill" back from my coworker to enter. I may also enter one of the Laura Perin SALs I did, haven't decided, and maybe some peonies, which have *finally* started blooming, about 2 weeks late.

I'm saving the Nativity set to enter all at once in the "Christmas" category next year.

I recently finished "This Heart of Mine" by Ink circles. I stitched it on white fabric with DMC 930. I looks like a Dutch tile.

I then stitched Sue Hillis "Do not mistake endurance for hospitality. Am going to display this prominantly!!

I have 2 1/2 bands left on a Long Dog Sampler band sampler that was published in 2007, in four parts, in The Gift of Stitching magazine.

Am gathering my supplies to get started on "The Blue Ribbon Sampler" by Mary Ollwyn. This is going to be a lengthy.....and VERY EXPENSIVE ...project!!

Thanks. Fortunately only a box of old college textbooks, some rags, and the concrete floor (my parents never finished the basement) were the only things to get really wet. I should have thrown out those textbooks years ago. So next garbage day....out they go.

I'm working on a wedding gift for a girl I've known since she was 5 years old. I stitched something for her older brother and sister when they graduated from high school but just didn't feel any inspiration when she graduated. I'm combining bits and pieces from several different booklets with a quote that a library patron brought to us to identity. In the middle is a quote from Anais Nin: "And the time came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom". On each side will be a white trellis with "climbing rosebuds" climbing up. Along the top will be a fully bloomed rose. The trellis came from one book, the rosebuds and viney thing from another, the rose on top from yet another and the alphabet from one of my many alphabet books. I'm using a Light Taupe

The wedding is this weekend but is a few hours away so the parents of the bride are having a pot luck BBQ on August 29 for friends and neighbors who can't make it to the wedding.

As far as county fairs go, I was going to enter a couple of items but DH is having a total knee replacement on July 14 and the day to stand in line to enter items is July 19th. If I had had my heart set on entering, I would find a way to do it but . . . . . Now I'm thinking of the stitching time I'll have when DH is in surgery. Hmmmmm; I wonder if the surgical waiting room has good lighting??? :-))) According to his "joint replacement binder", the procedure should take about three hours. Once I know he's out of surgery, I'll go down the road to donate plasma (gotta pay those bills) and then go back to the hospital when I'm done and he should be waking up a little more. Last time he had surgery, about 24 years ago, he had a really high threshold so that it took LOTS of anesthetic to get him out and then took him a loooooooong time to wake up. Liz from Humbug

I used to have a crazy quilt store fairly near by that had Weekes and GAST and Caron and her own flosses (dyed to go with her favorite fabrics). She had beads and charms and buttons. But her little town square decided to go upscale and she couldn't afford her rent anymore and she didn't want to do the e-business thing.

So cherish this place.

I wish there was a way to find a new life for my old college texts. Though, I'm going to find my physics one, it's well annotated and DS is taking physics next year.

I would bring my own lighting. I've been in more than few surgical waiting rooms - most have been dim but with plenty of outlets. Best wishes to him. Bring a simple project as it's not the most restful place to stitch.
