Some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed....

Goodness, can't they? A couple of years ago, I sprained my ankle (still have no idea exactly how, probably running through an airport), and the next day it was 3 times its usual size and purple! At least it was a college football weekend...

BTDT. Dealing with carpal tunnel syndrome/tendonitis that I first "contracted" when I was 18. There are some things that I simple cannot do because of the pain (filet crochet, for example), and others that I just work through the pain. My wrist will never be 100%, and I simply have to live with it. (Until the surgery has a better success rate, I'll deal with the relatively minor pain.)

Grr!

Yup!

I'm going with trooper... but only just barely.

I think you both mean TROUPER! As in "The show must go on!". My nephew was a iROOPER in the Household Cavalry!

Pat

Never seen it "trouper" LOL

Trooper as in I keep marching along despite adversity.

Caryn

Here's the Merriam-Webster definition and according to them it's trouper. But what do they know.

Well, after all - it works for both!

Either way, I'm equally nuts.

All week I've been trying to figure out why two groups of numbers refuse to match up. Months worth of paperwork to go thru, spreadsheets on excel and an old DOS program that just sucks. Numbers were swimming before my eyes yesterday.

I'm pretty sure that Pat is right - Trouper as in "Troupe" as in a group or troupe of dancers or acrobats or whatever.

Whew!

The x-rays were finally read and there's no fracture. Which means no cast impeding the knitting/stitching here at Santa's Workshop!

Thanks to everyone who prayed up "just a sprain". It still hurts where the wrist bone connects to the thumb bone, but I can slap SalonPas patches on that (unless one of you medical types has a better recommendation?)

Good news indeed!! (Expensive, no doubt, but worth the price!!)

I'm not a medical type, but I do have a weak ankle left over from a very severe sprain years ago, and it goes out again at the slightest provocation. I now keep an ankle brace - sort of a pre-made Ace-type bandage - on hand, and use it when needed. You might want to investigate your drugstore for a wrist brace to support it until it heals properly.

Olwyn Mary in New Orleans.

I too have a problem with my right wrist. I have DeQuervain's Tenosynovits, which in plain English is tendinitis in the wrist, with the pain being mostly on the side of wrist where it meets the thumb. Whenever it starts to flare up, I wear either the simple kind of brace you can buy in a drugstore or, if it is really bad, I wear the clunky cast that was fitted to my wrist for a while and give it a rest. I've learned to not let it slow me down too much and how to live with it.

Yeah, this is just the latest problem of many with that wrist.

In the mid-80s, I was diagnosed with wrist tendinitis in both arms, and worked another 15 years typing 100 pages a day despite the constant pain and the warning that I was making the damage worse. Same with the arthritis in both hands, but I couldn't afford to quit my job to train for something that didn't require abusing my hands against doctor's orders -- I needed to support two people, and even if I could've gotten disability while I went back to school, that wasn't enough even to pay the rent.

It was finally some other health problem that caused me to stop typing that much.

That's why God invented SalonPas and Bengay.
