've got that one too! I love most of the projects in it but I think I may start with the longer Faroese shawl since I like the idea of a shawl that stays put on my shoulders. emerald

DH would kill me if I did that. OTOH, the leftover cookies that I intended to freeze and take to work might not have disappeared...

I love the aqua colored shawl at the beginning of the book, but I think that's a bit much for me to start with.

Make two batches then! ;) I used the almond once by mistake and I really liked it.

My DH got me a gift certificate to a nice yarn store in Louisville (birthday present was from there too!) though this time he upped the ante to $50 - and Godiva truffles! hid those from the DDs otherwise the candy would be gone!

and I finally got around to using the KitchenAid stand mixer I got for Mothers Day! just don't have enough counter space to leave it out (yet!) Wish the hubby would win the lottery or something, so I could rip out the entire kitchen and start fresh!

My DM had one of those old Sunbeam Mixmaster mixers. It didn't do much but mix, but it was built to last. She got hers as a wedding present and was still using it when she died 43 years later. Now my DB has it, though I doubt he uses it much as he is not much of a baker.

I finally treated myself to a KitchenAid a couple of years ago after I bought two as wedding presents for a niece and a nephew. Figured if they were going to get the good stuff starting out then it was about time that I give myself the good stuff too since no one else is going to give it to me.

I bought a Sunbeam for myself when I first moved out on my own. Went with the Sunbeam because the one my DM had was so powerful and well built. The one I got was a piece of junk. Flimsy and the motor burnt out the first time I used the dough hooks to make basic white bread. Fortunately it was still under warranty and there was a repair shop not too far away, but I never really trusted it again.

Maybe they have improved again, but I didn't even look at Sunbeam when I was buying a replacement.
