thanks (I think)

I've been a visitor & a contributor to rctn off and on for a long time (since I was a professor at Cornell). I have a new screen identity (danged spammers & other cretins determined to make the internet and newsgroups their own money-tree or disgusting-poop-tree).

Anyway, I just wanted to say "thanks". I haven't been stitching much lately, too much business stuff & a lot of traveling; but I've started reading rctn again & the stitching juices are starting to flow again -- so, should I work on

Purple Passion (Silver Linings) Flower Power (Crossed Wings) Rocky Mountain Christmas (Marty Bell) Under the Oaks (Barbara & Cheryl) or the christmas ornament from one of the annual magazine copilations.... ????? Hmmmmm ElastiGirl

Welcome back! Isn't it nice when we start to get excited about something other than our daily routine!

Thanks for posting. Sounds like me, I stitch in splurges too. Sometimes it's worthwhile to slow down a bit, and appreciate what we've got, the ordinary things that make life worthwhile.

Well, I'm about 1/3 of the way finished with it. Of course, I made it tougher on myself by deciding to stitch the hummingbirds (in addition to the insect critters) over 1 on linen... I can't remember when I started it, I think 9 or 10 years ago!

Thank God I'm not the only one! I think I must be about as far behind as you are - I started it somewhere in the late 1990s. And I made it harder because I decided to do it in silk,(trying to get the shading right when you're trying to work out the equivalent colours in the silks has been a nightmare). Right now it's folded neatly away with only the day lilies done. I think I had better move it to the top of my ufo pile this winter, and try to get going again.

I really like working on it in the winter, but that also seems to be the busiest time for work and travel and of course the holidays -- so it doesn't get the attention that it deserves...

Have you tried blending the silks to get equivalent colors? You know, one strand of medium A + one strand of pale A to get a blend medium-pale A?

hmmm, now I'm thinking about pale ale...
