When a President dies, how long to you fly the flag at half mast? Thanks a bunch, Carol In WI

According to flag code, 30 days for a sitting or past president (10 days for a sitting or past vice president).

Best wishes, Ericka

When told President Coolidge was dead, Dorothy Parker famously responded, "How can they tell?"

I think the OP was asking in reference to the recent death of former US President Gerald R. Ford - probably because a *lot* of business are still flying their flags at half-staff.

Well, they`ll know when this one`s dead - there`ll be such a huge reduction in C**P coming out of the White House - AND No. 10!

Pat

I was going to ask what the heck you meant by No. 10, but as I was typing it I think I figured it out -- Mr. Blair? Boy, he sure was hurt by allying himself with our national nightmare.

The straight answer you're looking for is 30 days.
