Those designs sound like something I'd like to adapt. I searched at Hoffman Distributing using women, woman, lady as keywords ... a buncho of Dolly Momma's came up but I don't think that was what you were looking for.

"> >I was moseying thru some sites one day and came across some designs
Thanks Rosemary, but nope, not these either. The ones I'm thinking about aren't so detailed - very Parisienne looking I think. Groan - how I wish I'd put that site in my Favourites.

Have you tried this one...go to purchase charts section and there is a long skinny lady in a purple dress...very pretty. Someone posted the link to htis site the other day and I remember seeing this chart....
Possibly John Claytons from Heritage Stitchcraft, Nora Corbett's Nora series (same designer as Mirabilia Designs) or someone making derivative works. Most of your local needlework shops will order from Wichelt in pattern or kit form.
Hi Sharon,
Now I'm taking a big chance by posting this, but anyway... I have some copies of charts that are "Bare Elegance 1 thru 4". I received these from a friend close to 20 years ago. I don't know who the publisher or designer was, but they sound like what you are describing. The ladies are long and lanky, very elegant with hats and an wild animal at their feet. Ah yes, and each of them has cleavage too. They are all done in black, grey, and white. Guess all that doesn't really help other than at least you now know you aren't seeing things.

Found this tidbit online, for whatever it's worth:
"Another good set of "art deco" ladies (four in all) are the "Bare Elegance" series (Vols. I and II) by Gloria Steele. These ladies are done all in black, grey, and white, and are truly lovely (they remind me of the "Poirot" TV series on PBS). The models (on the charts' fronts/backs) for these charts were actually "beaded" as opposed to cross stitched, save for perhaps the hair and defining backstitching which were done with black floss. I've stitched (not beaded) three of these ladies myself on aida (before I switched to linen some years ago). The "Bare Elegance" (I & II) series was published by "The Cross Stitcher Magazine, Inc." in 1984. Their address was/is(?) P.O. Box 10779, Jackson, MS 39209. Somehow, I believe these charts may be out of print."
If those are the ones, was this the photo you saw?
No they're not the ones Ericka but getting close. The description of the Linda's above sound like them too, but Anne's link was the closest yet, but they're done in blackwork - I'm sure the ones I'm trying to find are in cross-stitch. Thanks for your help tho'.

Could this be it Dimensions have a kit Weekend in Paris shows back of elegant elongated woman with big hat and french background
Sounds like the ones I'm talking about - but they must be on line somewhere cuz I've seen them recently. I'll keep looking till I find them ... or maybe just go nuts trying to find them. :-)) Thanks Linda.

The picture you refer to is the series I have... Very simple, and very elegant.

And here's a link to these:
So???? Sharon is this what you saw? I haven't seen a response to find out if we solved the mystery. I do have all 4 of these charts.

Yeah. What she said!
These ladies are very close to what I saw but not quite. I'm still looking thru various cross-stitch sites in an effort to prove to myself that I'm not crazy. %-) If I ever lay an eye on them again, I'll be sure to report here.

Look here Linda - the ladies I saw resembled this one very very much

Cheryl! Cheryl!!! Did you see the ladybugs on this site?
