W.I.P.s

I finally got "a round tuit" and wrote down the patterns I am working on.

For my daughter and her baby-to-be-born end of February/beginning of March:

Heirloom Baby Sampler - Heart In Hand (complete except for the baby name and birth info)

Baby Garden - Just Nan (complete except for the beads and baby info)

Infant Of Joy - Moira Blackburn Samplers (my actual W.I.P.)

The occasion of my daughter's pregnancy spurred me back into stitching big time. I started by stitching her a little Wren, then took off with looking for and stitching baby samplers. I even stitched a wedding sampler for my brother. I could have sworn I wrote that one down but its not in my notes????

Also the Acorn Sample on RCTNP is actually 'Autumn Sampler' by Betsy Stinner - Earth Threads.

OOOh! I like this thread! Can I play? My WIP's are:

-Freebie TIAG Madonna and Child (Have to have a small one going to see light at the end of all that stitching)

-Stoney Creeks' O Holy Night Heirloom Nativity

-PC Stitch pattern of a Frog Shaped Pillow that has the markings of a Tiger. Sounds weird I know...but I am going to fill it with the insides of one of those grain pillows that you put in the microwave to make a moist heating pad.

I'm working on three:

The Christmas Village by Victoria Sampler The Red Thread Sampler by Bent Creek Christmas Fairy by Mirabilia

And my WIPS:

-- The winter cat from Margaret Sherry's "seasonal cats" in the current CrossStitcher mag. This one will be for *me*!!!

-- a custom ornament from M Designs of a Christmas tree spelled from my growing up BF's mom's name. She lost her mom right before Christmas, and this will be a remembrance for her to have at future Christmases. (Will do her dad's name next - he passed away last year.) Almost done - two letters left. It's in silk over 1, on 36 count linen. I've been working on it about an hour a night.

I really enjoyed working on those. I finished the stitching and beading on six of them last year, but I've been really lame and haven't don't the finishing yet. I've been itching to start the next three I have, but have been trying to finish up some other things first.

I've got most of the Victoria Sampler "Heirloom Memories" done, except that I'm sitting on the top part (name/dates/floral spray) until I get some feedback from the bereaved on how they'd like to see it. Then I have to hurry and get it done so it can get framed and ready to be delivered prior to the Iranian new year.

Other WIPs keep floating around, but once Heirloom Memories is done I'll spend some time getting ready for another go at Columbine Designs' "Proposal Pillow" for a friend's wedding. I've got a while to get it done, but I want to get it all sorted out and have all the materials on hand soon.

Best wishes, Ericka

I'm working on a design titled "Apples & Daisies" from a vintage book, "Kitchen Stitchin' ", by Cross My Heart (c1999). I found a small chest at Big Lots with a recessed lid covered by glass. I popped the existing decoration out of the recess and will insert my cross stitched Apples & Daisies. I love interesting boxes with lids that can have stitched designs inserted, especially boxes that I find for bargain prices.

WIP du jour, which had better be finished by bedtime: knitted romper. Baby arrived this morning, so the box needs to get in the mail!

WIP for tomorrow: four transcripts that arrived tonight

Day after tomorrow, we'll see what strikes my fancy.

That is a great idea. I'll have to keep my eyes open for such an item.

I have finished the Mill Hill Queen Anne House and it is on display in a green MH frame at my shop.

My WIP are several. First there is the MH Pink Poinsettia that I have all the stitching done on and only have the beads left. Then there is the Ch=E2telaine "Water Garden" that I have a little more than half the stitching done on. It will then need 1864 beads added and will be 17"

17" when done and will probably be heavy! I am redoing Brenda Franklin's gray teacup poodle head. I did one in her colors already. My husband's little 4 lb Carrie Anne died last February and she was more silver, so I am redoing it in more like her coloring. Then there is the TW "The Guardian" that I am about half done with. I think that is all...

Now that I will have to concentrate on doing sample displays for my shop, I will be hard pressed to do any of my old patterns that I wanted to do. I will have to do the new stuff as it comes out instead.

Oh, whoa is me (holding back of hand to forehead)

I would never have thought of laminating a piece of needlework! How does it hold up? Does it distort the stitching?

I'm slogging away on BOAF's Le Printemps. Now that I have the threads, I need to finish the sky on a Nancy Coffelt piece I'm doing. And this weekend I need to make a quickie doggie quilt for my dd's coach (coach *loves* her dog) - instead of Christmas presents, we give Valentine's Day presents to people we want to remember.

Fun thread:

My main WIP is Theresa Layman's English Cottage. The one thing I'll say about it is, I'll never have a problem with french or colonial knots ever again. I'm about three-quarters finished - just the outside borders to do.

Others Moira Blackburn's "Three Things", and Crossed Wings Collection "Flower Power" Actually, FP is stuffed in the bottom of my rolling crafts cart. Now that I am retired, it will have to come out. I started it more than five years ago. It may be the piece I take away on our Guild's stitching weekend in April.

Finished this week: Round Robin square, and Hardanger square on stitch sampler we're doing at Guild.

At least I got all my stitching supplies organized in their own double closet.

I'm trying to finish up Laura Perin's "Floral Ribbons". I ran out of the final color and have to run out and get more today. Then I need to put on the beads. Warning to anyone stitching this - there are a lot of mistakes on the pattern.

I put a few stitches in to Puddin' Designs "A Cat's Heart" needleroll last night. I've also started Liz Navickas Designs' "Whitework Needle Roll". And then there's Janlynn's "Winter Sampler" that I'm about half way through. I'm stitching this against my will for the daughter of a friend who died last year. She had stitched two of the seasons so our stitching group decided to stitch the other two for them. I'll take this with me on my vacation in April. There's no way I'll finish this soon.

Then I have to start Emie Bishop's "Celebrations" for my nieces' wedding in April. I'm waiting for the fabric to arrive from Nordic Needle.

I love LP, but there is ALWAYS at least one majori mistake in her charts. Email her about it and hopefully the next run will be fixed. (She really needs a better proofer.)
