Yeah, that's like DH asking about hurricaines when we moved here. I said that at least hurricaines give you fair warning and since the house we bought is 100 years old, it's prolly not an issue.

It doesn't make me feel "better" about myself as a person, because it is just what should be done and needs to be done. It is more a sense that I have to put the oxygen mask on myself for a few hours every so often, to be able to continue, and those few hours are not around much these days. Stitching would definitely help.

I will take inspiration from your determination to work from stash though, and I know I will find something in the big wicker box that will bring a smile. And I'll let you all know what waves at me and asks to be taken out of the box!

My sentiments exactly. And, BTW, for all of Katrina's damage, my house also sits on the high ground where the early settlers built, and all we lost was a few roof slates. If the levees had not given way, I would not have had to evacuate.

FWIW, there is plenty of work here in the Big Easy What there is not is affordable housing.

I truly do not mean to make light of anything you are going through. I hope you find some relief immediately.

My idea came from something I did myself recently. When we go to this animal sanctuary to hand feed giraffe's, there is a shop with one of those things to turn a penny into a flattened copper trinket with any animals you choose imprinted on it.

So, I was driving through the beggers by the highway last month or so, and a woman was begging, filthy, all banged up (not a professional panhandler who earns a living begging) and I only had change in my posession so I gave it to her, and I gave her my flat penny. She went to give it back thinking it meant something and I told her that it was for her. She started crying and said it was the most beautiful thing she now owned.

I am not in your position, or so it sounds, so please realize I only meant to give you inspiration. Even if it was to use stash up, I am satisfied.

She lives in San Diego now. Anyway, it's only been three weeks since he lost his job and they gave him months of severance with money for COBRA, so he is taking a much needed rest.

I miss NOLA.

You story of giving something beautiful was touching. IIRC, the original notion of random acts of kindness was paired with "acts of senseless beauty". Lots of us forget the last one, you didn't.

Now, I will warn you, the Sacramento/San Joaquin Valley gets beastly hot in summer. Average for this week is 95, and the record high for this week is 114. But if you have good A/C in the house and car, it's no big deal.

I am debating weather doing pigs, Neffi, or daisies as my current wip, and I usually do small projects on the side. I'm also doing something for Eva Rosenstand's granddaughter, which is an honour in itself, hehe. Now that I think about it, daisies it is!

So many of their designs are quite realistic. The Macaw is a stunning piece. If you do it over one, should be about 8 X 8 given the piece is 15 X

For me - next project is (aside from the 3 personal WIP) is either:

A - Black Willow Farm - All kitted on some nice hand dye, but IIRC on 32 ct (not 40), with only minor color changes in the silks you have to scroll down pretty far

Sorry to hear about suckiness, Dawne. But, I do understand the dilemma. I've been doing job interviews lately, and am a bit on edge waiting to hear as references are being checked, other candidates being interviewed. Yuck.

Nice piece - the web site pic looks a bit grey to me, but I'm sure you'll do what works! I, too, love the western mountains. Whenever I would go arrive in Albuquerque, and drive up toward the mountains (where my house was) it would totally change my mood from Eastern frantic - nad I'd always catch my breath at some point over how beautiful the high desert mountains can be.

I'd move back pretty readily - but of course, with DH being a Navy guy - not much transferring to land-locked locales!
