(United States) Does anyone know where next year's fall Celebration of Needlework is being held? This year was my hometown of Louisville but they were supposed to announce next year's at their closing ceremonies (didn't, cost me another $10 parking fee to stick around for annoucement); update their website (haven't); haven't responded to my email asking, and the hotel shows no 2009 booking (the Marriott was helpful).
For Christmas I always ask for reservations and stuff to attend at least one needlework show/classes/festival. October this year had eight budget-busting conflicting events including the Stitching Jubilee smart enough to offer gift certificates for generous freinds and family (formerly Stitching Festival formerly CATS formerly Spirit of Cross Stitch) I usually attend and Celebrations won out by being local to me.
I did thoroughly enjoy Celebration of Needlework, both the classes and a truly excellent shopper's market. I understood from teachers and vendors that the location and hotel were great; not sure how the final statistics on attendance and sales went for them. Not well advertised and even our local Embroiderer's Guild (whose museum and national headquarters was exactly 1 and 1/2 blocks away of an event with truly lovely weather to lure attendees) didn't get involved. Their spring event is in New Hampshire, a much more densely populated area with active EGA branches, spring fever weather, and existing local shops and a decade plus of regular attendees -- I'm sure our attendance figures don't compare.
Any information appreciated. I'm planning now because some of my paychecks are for fiscal year projects (October to October) and I'm deciding what to hold back for which events and on my Christmas budgeting. Deadline for registraiton for some of the 2009 classes I might attend is actually November 20.
