Where do you stitch?

Curled up in the corner of my love seat, with one foot curled under me and the other on the hassock in front. That leaves plenty of room for Puff on the other side.

When I bought this loveseat I was sure to put a velour fabric on it, rather then leather which I like better, so that I could stick my needles into the arm and not worry about the ones I drop making holes.

At home, mostly the comfy couch downstairs and a comfy chair upstairs.

I do use a floorstand for really large projects hard to hold in hand or if I get tired of holding my project (old age is not wonderful on the joints). There are different brands of floor stands -- I suggest looking for one that holds everything (scroll frames, hoops, q-snaps, etc.) and doesn't require you to buy their proprietary stitching frames rather than advertising a particular one for you.

Those tabletop stands are a big help for meetings/classes/etc. away from home though. Or for miniature knotwork projects where I am one who needs two hands to get the colonial knots right.

Lapstands do not work well if you have pets who like to cuddle; when I try my three cats fight over who gets to lay in the stand supports. And none of them plus my needlework fit well. Great for airport and other waiting rooms away from your pets.

If you do travel with needlework to hotel rooms -- I suggest taking along a couple of brighter light bulbs for the @#$*! dim rooms and some "junk" scissors for cutting the bulb packages open (plus any packages of stuff you buy from the local needlework shop we somehow find). Just switch out bulbs while you are stitching and put theirs back when you leave the room; not like they'll find out. Pillowcases brought from home are great packaging for your projects; having a light colored one and a dark colored one are great lap throws while stitching on oppositely colored fabrics.

My Ethan Allen arm chair was wonderful for many years but the seat was really sagging and didn't give much support. I used one of my first SS checks to treat myself to a stressless recliner:

I'm generally in my living room in a comfy old wingback chair, feet up on an ottoman that matches another chair, favorite lamp behind and to my left, and with a step-back table to my left for the stitching stuff, TV remote, iced tea, and phone. My favorite chair is going on "vacation" soon to get new upholstery -- it's so ratty that I have a sheet over it!

Everywhere, really. Mostly in doctor's surgeries, waiting... Sometimes in the car. Soon, in my wonderful garden. ;-D

I sit in my recliner with my lap stand and my feet up.

Oh, this is easy....anyplace the Dazor lamp/magnifier is! DH moves it from the RV to the house depending on where we w=are.

Actually at home it is by the love seat, and I curl up with a dog or two with me. In the RV it is in my recliner (which I don't recline).

I really cannot see without the magnifier, and the Dazor suits me to a T.

I could have changed things when I had the cataracts in both eyes fixed, but I had worn glasses since I was 7, and am comfortable with them for distance. For years I read and stitch without glasses, but magnification is great.

I think I will quit right here, and do some stitching!

On the couch in the living room, with Not Dead Fred lying right behind my neck. I have a work lamp with a magnifying lens there which he thinks is a sort of cat tanning bed.

OTOH, I would like to stitch on the big old couch downstairs, since it is upholstered rather than leather like the upstairs couch, and so ideal for using the arm as a needleholder, but at the moment I don't have good lighting or a proper array of tables down there.

I do all my canvaswork while sitting at a table. Outdoors in nice enough weather or the dining room table which has an extra down light that illuminates things nicely. Not tiresome at all. Most everything else is stitched in my comfy chair or in my favorite corner of the couch depending on which furniture arrangement I've got going on.

I have a recliner in the family room. It has nice wide arms, and I can pop the foot rest up when I want. I also stitch at Guild meetings in a straight back chair at a table, or in the car.

I usually stitch in bed or on the couch. I ordered a ott lite with a magnifier so now I'll be mobile : )

I used to have a loveseat in which I stitched. Pretty much the same as what you describe. After my little Cookie (maltese) passed away, we bought a new set that had 2 lazy boy chairs and a sofa. I grew to love my lazy boy chair...
