A Finished Project!

It feels like it's been a long time since I said that! My DSIL asked me to make a wallhanging for her brother for Christmas. She'd seen the Dale Earnhardt quilt I'd made my stepson, and thought that would be great for her brother. I finished it last night, and I have a couple of pictures in my 2009 Quilts folder in Webshots if you'd like to look.

Very nice, Louise! I guess the blizzard was a good thing! Kept you inside to finish this! He's going to love it! amy in CNY

I'm going to have to be reallllllly careful to be sure that DH never sees this magnificent creation. He will always be an Earnhardt #3 fan . . . and if he had any idea that you could write Earnhardt with your quilting, he would be sending Noel back to you for embellishing. LOL. Now wouldn't that be something? Polly

Well done Louise! Your quilting with the name in it is fantastic! What fun. :-)

That was the first time I'd ever done that, and was happy with the way it turned out. But it'll be our secret, okay? We'll have to find something other than Noel that might require the Earnhardt name!

Howdy!

Way to go, Louise. Way to go and go and go --- in circles. Finished is good! ;-P

Yep, finished is good! My goal for 2010 is to be finished much more often - now I have to focus, focus, focus!

Louise, I think you did a great job! The checkered border is just right, and I love the way you trapunto-ed the title and date. :)

But, alas, no feathers on this one! I just didn't think they'd work on a Nascar-themed quilt!

Great job, Louise! My oldest son would love it--he's like Polly's DH--he will always be an Earnhardt fan!! Love the way you quilted the name and date!

Thanks, Donna! There are a lot of #3 fans around, aren't there?

My one regret with the quilt I made for my stepson is that I didn't quilt in the name and date like I did on this one. On the other hand, I was doing only hand quilting then, and all that stippling would have driven me crazy!

ROFLOL! No, I think perhaps you're right -- unless they were the feathers dropped by terrified birds as the cars whizzed past. ;)
