Or maybe a couple of firsts. This was the first time in six years I haven't worked the scribing committee for our local show. Since I'm a vice-president this year, I felt that perhaps I could take the year off from this other. I almost wish I hadn't. I'm not really convinced that the judge did a great job this time, and I might feel differently if I'd watched her "in action". She's a new one to us, and the Best of Show quilt, while beautifully quilted, had some major problems (wavy borders, unequal width, etc.). She also gave multiple firsts, seconds and thirds in one category, which I think rather odd, at the very least. I'd entered three quilts this time: two minis (Spring Pansies and Conflagration) and African Feathered Stars. The minis didn't win anything (that's *not* a first for me! ), but the stars did! In fact, I now have my very first blue ribbon since moving here! Yes, I know -- I don't think much of how the judge did things, but in this case.... ;)

Thanks, Kathy! :) Hmmm...I hadn't thought of it like that. And this judge was probably more than tired, as I think she did another show quite recently before ours. Maybe she was spread a bit thin?

I wish I had thought to take pictures of the cards they made. I will do that in July when we do Christmas in July.
