Advent quilts

Hey, everyone!

Although I started quilting 10 years ago, it's been on again off again for me. So I still consider myself to be near the beginner range. Anyway, for years I've wanted to make an advent quilt. Does anyone have links to patterns? Just so you know what I'm looking for - I'm not so big on Santa. I'm looking for patterns that are more religious in nature. While I'm not yet sure if I can handle a real advanced pattern, I'm OK with a pattern that's a bit complicated. I want something that maybe my family will use for years.

Thanks! Erika in Texas

I made an advent quilt by making 24 squares with very simple applique pictures. I put a sashing in between them. I made this up into a quilt then added doors over the pictures.

I haven't got a picture but I hope this makes sense!

I made on last Christmas that I cheated and bought as a panel. But it was just 25 squares that made pockets on the backing. Mine was a Christmas Tree with various tree decorations as the pockets. But you could use any backing then the pockets could co ordinate, in the style that you want. Anyhow the pockets were all sewn 1/4 in under on the top, and pressed 1/4 in on the other three sides, then sewn down. After the pockets were placed on the quilt recieved its backing and binding etc. I recall hating those pockets after about 12 though lol
