Hey Polly!

Today I went to the LQS and worked on quilts for victims of Katrina. They had a fairly good turnout. The owner of the QS brought in all her unfinshed quilt tops and we put them together, some just needed binding. Then we started working on strip quilts. It was a very busy day and the machines were humming. When I left there were women just arriving. The sewing was to continue until tonight. I did get some shopping done. Just a few fat quarters that I couldn't resist and some thread (still pinching those pennies). All in all, it was a very good day.

Now if only we could figure out where to send them where they are desperately needed. The remote little town of Taylorville in Smith County MS comes to mind. Polly

Is that because that's the town I asked about Polly? :-) I haven't heard anymore from DD's friend...they don't run into each other as often now that she's student teaching. I believe her friend's dad is a Pastor in Taylorville. Pastor Creel I think his name would be. If he's as sweet as his son is, I'm sure he and his flock would be very deserving recipients!

Yes. There was just the tiniest little bit in our local newspaper about them - telling how "cut-off" from the world and remote they are and how long it was taking for any help to come. I just imagine there are lots of them, the trick would be in figuring out where and how. But, ah, we are a tricky bunch. Polly

The shop owner has made connections with a church group, I'm not sure what town, but the church is going to distribute the quilts were needed.

Howdy! Here's a possible: Northwest Christian Church

1113 Wright St Arlington, TX 76012-3239 (817) 460-2961

still has 200 evacuees; we've received plenty of toys and clothes, and sister churches (like mine) are delivering meals every day (I'm down for "a hearty meat stew" this Friday ). Surely quilts would be welcomed.
