Hello all, I'm back from the Keepsake Quilting sale in New Hampshire. I ache all over and have a sofa full of fabric. Was anyone else there? My mother has decided to make a quilt (her first quilt!) for my grandmother with some of the scraps we bought. My grandmother loves angels. My mother's plan is to fussy cut angels (varying sizes, from 2 up to 6 or
7 inches) and surround them with fairy frost fabric. So... here is my plea. Would anyone be willing to swap any angel fabric and/or fairy frost scraps with me for her? If so, please email me and let me know what you're looking for (and I'll send you her address). Don't be shy
- I'm loaded with scraps. :) thanks! I'd report in more detail about the sale, but I'm exhausted and can barely think straight!
I have a yard of Everyday Angels from South Sea Imports that you're welcome to. Email me her address but you'll have to clean up my spelling. The big quilt project going on here is plaids for the next graduate. I've never played in swaps before but will need heaps of plaid and 12" squares of any will do nicely. When you rest up, we want to hear all about your grand trip. Details, we want details. Polly

Lynn - I have four angel fabrics here - how big do you want the pieces and where do I send them?
Polly - I have a box of plaids here but you need to let me know exactly what "quality" of fabric you are after. Some of these are bordering on brushed cotton or dobbie weights. I have a fair bit of tartan and some checks too - is that any good? Let me know if you are interested and I will go fossick around. I haven't looked in those boxes for months!
Awww, Cheryl, you are so kind but postage is so horrible for you faraway friends. I would love to have just a piece of plaid so our grandson will have a bit of his grad quilt from you - that will, indeed, be special enough. If I were interested in becoming an entrepreneur, I'd find a way to do shipping for your folks that didn't just stagger anyone's imagination. Polly
Whew, well, I'm a little more rested now. I went to Keepsake Quilting's annual summer sale - arrived the day before, stayed in a hotel overnight across the street with my mother, woke up in time for opening (we were there in line 45 minutes early to get into the tent), stayed just about until closing with a break for lunch, stayed that night too and woke up to get in line for the second day and did it all over again! I'm wondering how much detail to share, because I don't want it to be painful, particularly for those overseas... but, anyone who ever has a chance to go to this sale (NAYY) should go! The first time I went I said it was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of event, but now I never miss a year. The highlights are $5.99 ziploc bags that you can stuff with as many fabric scraps (some "scraps" larger than a yard) as it can hold. I won't admit how many of these we purchased, but the number is in the double digits. People get quite creative in their bag-stuffing techniques!. They also had 5/$5 fat quarters, bolt fabric marked down to $2/yard if it contains a certain color/style called out each hour (I hung around the area so long they let me pick the color one hour), and a tent full of books/gadgets/tools. I bought a "wonder arc" ruler that I'm excited about, and "Great Sets" "Fat Quarter Frenzy," and "Machine Quilting in Sections" - all books I'd wanted. I also bought a curve master presser foot (Perhaps that was my biggest bargain...I didn't realize it until I looked up the price online. I paid $5.99! Hopefully I'm not missing a crucial adaptor or something). And I bought enough fabric to put me into a nice planning, calculating, savoring daze...for about another year until it's time to go again. :) Who cares if I have to eat macaroni and cheese for the next month to justify the money I spent...
The Olympics pale in comparison. Now that sale is an event I could have enjoyed just watching - not that I would just watch mind you, but I'll bet it was quite a sight. Polly

How I wish I could have!! I did shop with many of you in mind, and I have packages ready to go and other fabric set aside for random surprises (good idea - I'll try to focus on the overseas people). The day before the sale started, we met a woman in the store who gave us $20 and pleaded with us to buy scraps for her and mail it later. I felt like I was shopping for 10 people by the end of the sale...20 if you count people I was thinking of making quilts for! We were limited by what our poor bodies could carry and our minds could handle contemplating, but we sure did the best we could!
Wow, that sounds like fun!! Sure wish I lived closer but after spending money on airfare I couldn't afford to buy anything!!! LOL And with the price of gas, i couldn't afford to drive either. Boo-Hoo!! : > (
I just picked up some angel material today at a yard sale and I have a small piece of the frost material. Send me your snail mail and I'll get it right out to you.
Lynn........ Ohhhh what fun!!! I simply MUST try to do that sometime. And I was all excited about finding some "puppy" fabric online for $2.98 a yard.... lol. Make somethin' purdy!!
