Thanks, Kate, but you don't need to be brave to do this! Pat's pattern is so well done that it's really not difficult at all -- it just *looks* complicated. All of the really complicated part was done by Pat in drafting the pattern. :)

Thanks, Lyn. :) No, it's difficult to see how they were done because the black fabric doesn't show up well. However, they're made with a fabric manipulation technique that I learned from Jennie Rayment. :) In a nutshell, it involves having the magenta fabric underneath two pieces of black and rolling the black back to expose the magenta at specific intervals. Then everything is tacked in place.

Sandy, you frighten some of us when you finish a quilt 8 months before you absolutely *have* to have it done. Eight hours ahead of time would be a minor miracle for me!

LOL! Rest assured, Leslie, that this is a new thing for me. I normally would have procrastinated about the challenge until it was far too late to even enter -- that's what I've done every previous year except one (and that was such an easy challenge, since I was already making a quilt quite coincidentally that fit the rules!). I generally get the kit and then put it away so safely that I can't find it again -- ever! This time, I had the idea that I wanted to make this particular quilt anyway, so I went ahead before I could (a) lose the kit or (b) forget what I wanted to do. ;)

BTW, the piece of fabric in the very center (the flower) and the inner border (the dotted fabric) are the two pieces of fabric that we were required to use; we only had to use a recognizable piece of each, but we had a FQ's-worth in the kit.

BUT BUT BUT I *DID* say I would NOT abscond with it...I didn't say anythig about AFTER the unveiling.
