My DS and his ex just came to an agreement for joint custody last night. Everyone gets 50-50 - no one parent has more power than they other. Child lives with one parent 50% and other parent 50%. They only live 8 blocks from one another so it's almost like next door. There will be no disruption for DGD. Thank goodness for sanity.

*snip*

I bought many pairs of jeans (the biggest size I could find, and just like new!) at my local thrift shop. I don't like to spend over £2 or £3 on a pair. I also pick up flannel shirts when I can, and the odd checked cotton shirt. I've made 2 or 3 denim quilts now, and have enough flannel shirts to finally make myself a flannel quilt out of that.... the other side will be floating 9-patches from a swap last year.

It's not my favourite, or even what I want, but.... I need more orange and purple marbles and prints. Now that I'm really trying to make more BRIGHT quilts, especially baby-sized, I find that I have plenty of red and blue prints, a few greens, a couple yellows.... I want a rainbow of colour!

oooooooooh a gal after my own heart :)

~KK in BC~ who loves giving new life to old fabrics, it is my way of recycling and feeling good.

We now have two small businesses here which are solely dedicated to the recycling of fabric: shirts, dresses, whatever. One is called Ragbags, I forget the other's name - but it is equally appropriate. The fabric is presented cut neatly into rectangles of stated size, washed, pressed and often put together in bundles of like colour or pattern. They are usually my only source of Liberty plain fabric nowadays. . In message , ~KK in BC~ writes

Pretty much standard prices for over here, Roberta. I have no idea whether they would ship overseas? I could find out, if you like? But, I think you would find our prices way more expensive than you are used to. You might be better taking up PAT's offer of info. on thrift shops >g<

Oh lol it wasn't my intention to have ya ship it overseas :) Just thought it sounded fun and wondered if it was a deal for you since your fabric is always soooo pricey over there compared to ours.

Ah! I misunderstood - not for the first time >g< Not really cheap, I fear; but I admire the principle, so I buy a little from time to time - especially the Liberty.

Misunderstandings happen :) sorry to hear that the prices aren't good - I was hoping there would finally be a less expensive way for you all to make quilts...

I was given some Liberty cotton in a Paisley Print by a quilting friend who lives in Sheffield. I have several FQs but just can't bring myself to cut them. I pull them out and fondle them often but just can't bring myself to cut such beautiful fabric.
