Birds of a Feather--Almost Done!

One more block to go and then the border. About the border. I originally purchased a floral for the border. The pattern also offers an appliqued border option. I think I'll get the center put together and mull that one over a bit before I make a decision.

I've asked a friend who does marvelous custom long arm work to do this one for me. I think it deserves the very best!

I just love love love that quilt Joan - and you are just doing a fabulous job on it. Whose pattern is it and how many different fabrics have you used, if you don't mind my asking. I would also do what you're doing - finish the centre then figure out what I'd do with the border, but by the look of it now, I'm sure I'd go for the applique border too - the finishing touch.

And overjoyed to say 'done' for the center. That last block must have had a million leaves!

The book Birds of a Feather was written by Barb Adams and Alma Allen of Blackbird Press. I bought fabric from the Democracy line for the block backgrounds. The color palette was inspired by the Four Seasons line. I have no idea how many fabrics were actually used, as I dragged all sorts of fabric out of their bins to achieve variety.

Just beautiful Joan. I really love the different sized blocks throughout, with the long narrow ones a feature. I can't wait to see how you will border it. It's going to be a 'once-in-a-lifetime' masterpiece I reckon. Well done you. A great piece of work.

Wow! It looks wonderful.

I am always fascinated by the divider blocks in this type of quilt - the little pieced strips of squares, the hqt's etc. They always look so right, both the scale and the colours. I like the way they seem randomly placed, but aren't and just lift the design.

So pretty! I love every part of it, especially the modest row of pears. Don't know why that caught my eye, but it's the perfect complement. Roberta in D
