Desperately seeking a fabric

Feb 16, 2008 15 Replies

I'm designing a Victorian house quilt. The blocks are large- 20 in. wide by

30 in. long. I need a 'scallop print' fabric (looks like small clam shells if you are familiar with that pattern) for a roof- with the scallops about
3/4 in. to an inch wide. I have some great fabric, but it's a rust color and I want to stick to lavender, blue, pink and green. Does anybody have a FQ or skinny eighth yard of a scallop print like this, but in one of the colors I need? A deeper shade would be best- of any of the above colors- but I'm not picky! I wouldn't have any idea what to search for in the online fabric stores- any ideas on that, too?

TIA Oh! My "Thank You' thread hasn't shown up in Outlook Express but I found it on Google... I guess I am invisible again.....

I know I have some in red, but that's not on your list. IIRC it was a FQ from JoAnns, they often have the same fabric in different colours, but I know JoAnns is a long trip for you. I'll keep my eyes open...

Thanks, Anne. I guess if I got even more desperate I could attempt to bleach the red trying for a deep pink, but let's wait and see if anybody has anything else? ;-)

I've got one, Leslie. Some clams are purple, some lavender. I'll see if I can scan it and email it to you to see if you think it might do. Of course, you'll remember what my scanning skills are like. I could be sending you a recipe for pickled pineapple. Polly

I know I used to have some, but I don't know if I still do. I'll check a little later and if I have it, I'll let you know. I had it in more than one color, but I don't know that I had any large pieces.

Not exactly like what you show in your picture (which I think is a VIP or similar fabric) but check out the Benartex line Kimiko's Garden Chinoiserie at benartex.com Or there is this one:

Perhaps this one but I think it might be too fussy looking:

Leslie, I've got some! I put a picture on Webshots for you to see. I have deep rose/pink but not much of it. I have green. I also have some "shingle" fabric in blue. You're welcome to all of it. You can e-mail me at caroledoyle at mindspring dot net if you can use it and send me the address to mail it to. Here is the picture:

Oops....wrong e-mail!!!!! It's caroledoyle at windstream dot net, not mindspring. Brain problems!!!

I fed Scallop into

Thanks, Kate. They aren't quite the colors I hoped for and there's no way to tell how large or small the scallops are. I'll keep them in mind, tho!
