I seem to remember someone posting that the directory was being emailed out - but I've never received it - is the problem at my end or not? I definitely did sign up for it.

I haven't gotten mine either. However, I think Alice normally sends a "that's all, folks" when done sending out, and I haven't seen that, so I think it is just taking a little while in between everything else.

I, too, would like a copy even though I'm not sure I signed up for it or not.

I think I remember Alice saying she could only mail a small number at a time because of limits on email accounts. That makes a lot of sense.
Donna, there are some very sensible rules about the director, who is in it and who receives it, that keep us safe and let us feel comfortable giving out our personal contact information. You must be in the director in order to receive a copy. And the decision about who is in and who isn't, as I said, is based on some rules that stay the same from year to year.

Donna - just keep your eyes open for the NEXT directory!

and Alice - I didn't mean to stress you in any way - take your time - I just thought I was the one who'd missed something.
She did sent out test emails -- I would think that everyone who is getting one -- would have gotten it by now. But I would guess she even has to do that in small numbers -- to stay below the spam filter of her ISP.
I received the test... but not the directory yet. I would bet there are many of us in that boat!
Yup! I'm not worried - it'll get to all who entered eventually, but it does take a while if it has to be sent in small batches.
Since the "other" Alice hasn't responded, I will. I'm first in the Directory (one of the few things I'm ever first in!!), and I received mine on 4/10. I responded to Alice and told her everything arrived as it should. She was going to get a glass of wine and continue sending out the Directory to others. Do you think maybe she had more than one glass of wine?? Just kidding.....she's definitely working on getting them out to everyone. What a great job she's done!
The directory is currently being sent out. Just received mine. Looks wunnerful as usual.
$ snipped-for-privacy@news-radius.ptd.net...
Just received mine -all the way over to Australia! Thanks Alice & team. Great job. Bronnie
I received mine tonight. The only problem is that I do not unstand how to "unzip" it, even after going to the websites she mentioned.

;(( Ginger in CA known as techno-geekless at work.
Ginger,
Maybe if you tell us what kind of computer you use, someone here can help.
I use linux, and if I view a zip-file in a file-viewer (where you see a list of all your files, and you can click on them to open them), I can click on the zip-file, I get a new window which shows a list of all the files inside. Then I can open and/or save individual files from inside the zip-file.
If you are using MS Windows, maybe someone else can tell you of the specifics of the same procedure there.

6087$ snipped-for-privacy@news-radius.ptd.net...hmmmm I got the test email a while ago but I just double checked my email and don't see my copy yet either .................
If you double clock on the zipped folder, your computer will usually take you through the steps.....

I got mine.
I double-clicked, it opened the zipped file, then i opened the Adobe file. Saved it to my desktop - where volume 9 through 15 are sitting also.
Yeah! Thank you Lenore and all who helped.

All the directory emails have been sent. I did send them out as a zip file this time since the text version was a bit bigger than I thought would work. Zipping compresses the files which makes them easier to email. There are many "unzip" programs out there and any of them should work. The zip program gets installed. Then double click on the zip file from the email and it should open and show you the three files it contains. Click on one of those to open it.
If anyone just can't get this to work, email me off line and we'll come up with another option. If it ends up being a big problem, we'll write it down in the "lessons learned" column and find another method next time.
Please be warned that the Directory is 21 pages printed. Each entry spans 3 pages across and there are seven sets of three pages.
I actually forgot to pour the glass of wine - I got so focused on sending out the emails that I lost track of time so I was totally sober during this process. It's yet to be determined if that was a good thing or not.
On behalf of Karen and myself - that's all folks - until next year! Enjoy!!!
Alice, you and Karen did a terrific job! I looked at all three formats, and then I kept the one I thought would be most useful. I love being able to sort the columns. :) Thanks so much for all of your hard work, both of you!
Mine was here waiting for me this morning.
*Thank you so much* Directory team. It is a unique contribution to the cohesion of the group. Marvellous. . In message , AliceW writesHave something to add? Share your thoughts — no account required.
