No, this is not a normal occurence at all. Sometimes it will show up, but not often. We ignore it, and it goes away. Welcome to the group, and I'm sorry this was your first experience with us! Tell us about your quilting, how long have you been making quilts?

Hi Hazel (waving from Australia)

I didn't even see that one so I must have had the sender blocked. Every ng gets hit by the occasional spam/troll attack but we just ignore and, as Karen says, they just go away.

Stick around - tell us about your quilts.

Nothing to fret about, Hazel. Those critters crawl out from under a rock now and then but if we don't feed the trolls, they go away. I do hope you enjoy the rest of the group. :-)

So. How long have you been quilting? How many QIs do you have, and what kind? Do you like chocolate, and if so what kind? What quilt(s) are you working on right now?

Hi Hazel.

Welcome to the group. No this is not normal, we are mostly a pretty likeable bunch. If we all ignore this guy, he'll go away.

Please stay and tell us about yourself and your quilts. (Family, QI's, j.o.b., chocolate preferences, or anything else you'd like to tell us)

I haven't done anything quilty lately but I'm hoping to get started again soon.

Not that I'm looking for more trouble... but where did she see that post? It never came through to me... and it doesn't show in Google Groups either?

Did anyone else see that post? Not that I want that one... but what else might I be missing (of ON TOPIC posts!)

It's not a normal occurrence, Hazel, and certainly not posted by anyone in the group. If you pay them no attention, they go away. :)

Welcome to the group, and I look forward to learning more about you and your quilting. :) Any photos to share?

Hi Hazel! My ISP is pretty reliable about deleting unsuitable posts, so I did not see that one or most of the others that have caused some consternation. Suffice to say, any group is vulnerable to trolls and trouble makers who pop in now and then to stir up problems. This too shall pass. Got Chocolate? I am the Official Chocolate Taster of RCTQ. If you send a pound or two to my Palace in Virginia, I will taste it for you and give you the report. Every quilter needs to have good chocolate on hand, for her/him self or for visiting quilters!

Welcome Hazel - what a rotten early experience.

I sympathise with your disgust, but it is not a usual occurrence at all. I haven't seen anything like it in my six years here.

Just a warning - never make a comment or it will 'feed' them. Also, some names of our genuine 'members' are hijacked. As you don't know us very well yet, you might be alarmed at that.

So, are you working on something interesting at the moment? Do you have pets who enjoy your quilts (Quilt Inspectors - QI's); and where is home for you? .

No. Plague of trolls right now - best just to ignore them and they wither away. Now you know the ones to pass, you can do it safely. Try to set a kill file for those titles/posters.

My message filter log shows that it caught one like that yesterday. Maybe one of your filters/killfiles/whatever-you-use caught it.

How do you get a Daily digest on a newsgroup? Through Google, maybe?
