I've finished a project quilt out of Pat's book Geometric Quilts. It was such fun to do and not so scary once i started . I've dedicated it to her! For a design experiment I used 2 pink wool challis fabrics for the background. It gave a richness of colour and texture contrasting with the cotton Japanese and batik fabrics. note to self: iron-on pellon does not adhere to wool!
I can see your three posts - sometimes some of mine don't appear and it is really annoying. The only way I can see mine and some others is to look at the archives. I have missed answers to questions on a genealogy group I belong to. Sometimes little 'nylon' gremlins stick their noses where they are not wanted.
I am, indeed! Can't wait to see what you will pick Estelle. Will you have it chosen for Malvern? - not long now! . In message , Estelle Gallagher writes
Thanks Sunny, I get inspiration from others/patterns/my head and try to figure out a different take on things! Maybe 'cos I live Downunder and everything looks different from here LoL. I am very naughty how I start with a pattern with no idea how the background, for example, is going to be done, like with Pat's pattern. I finished the spiral, pressed it, put in on my design wall and thought, now what happens next, girl? Most sane folk will have a final design figured out first. -- The biggest scary project doing that, was the Spring Lake quilt (in the webshots album), That was a sort of commission, and I had all the piecing done for the background without knowing exactly what was going on top (the cherry blossoms). I nearly had a heart attack trying to figure that out knowing the finished quilt was for sale. I have another project just finished that utilised the pink wool challis fabrics [which must remain secret until mid July.....] so that is where the background idea came from for the Spiral.
2008 is the Year of the Small Quilt - I'm doing nothing larger than about a metre square (39"). So expect to see a few .
Thanks Sandy, it sure brightens my studio! I'm thinking I might gift it to one of my girlfriends if they can see a place for it in their house. Bronnie
Well, of course I do, Girlfriend, I see that place right here. I'll even send you a picture of the place before the quilt goes to it, then send an "After" shot, as in, "Here's my Girlfriend Bronnie's masterpiece in my house."
