Frank's Annual Gift List

One, its a zero pollen producer (no allergies), two it needs to be mowed about once a month (its max height it six inches), three, it doesn't require the watering that fescue or bluegrass does (both of these are swamp grasses, buffalo is a prairie grass), and finally, it doesn't require annual fertilizer. It does turn brown in the winter, but I don't have a problem with that.

Yep, I know all that, and I've wanted it for years now. The trouble is that there are only a few grass seeds sold here, Kentucky Bluegrass, some odd fescue mixes/blends, and annual rye. I don't know why they don't sell Buffalo unless they think no one will buy it, or it won't grow in red clay soil. I'm not sure why they even try to sell an annual grass seed. Seems a bit stupid to nurse seed to grow only to have it for one year. Debra in VA See my quilts at

I love Buffalo Grass. I have only seen it in KC, MO, not anywhere here in Ohio. The landscaping sounds wonderful.
