If you have a Kilwin's Ice Cream near you, they normally give away their plastic ice cream containers - all washed and pretty. They are the large ones that they use in the cases for ice cream cones.
These make great wastebaskets in your sewing room when you have QI's who like to overturn your wastebasket and scatter/chew/swallow the snippets and thread ends - you can snap the lid on when you are done with a sewing session, and they are QI-proof!
They also stack nicely, and would hold a ton of stuff.
They are also food-grade, and so are great for holding dry pet food instead of those big bags they come in.
