GREAT eLQS Service!

Hi Guys, I absolutely MUST recommend Wish Upon A Quilt (

)! My DNiece is expecting in mid February, the baby shower is 13 January and she decided just before New Years that she wanted to use Peter Rabbit stuff as the nursery theme! I had promised her a crib quilt and wanted to have it to her by the baby shower! I got online and did a search for Peter Rabbit fabric at the quilt shop site and Wish Upon A Quilt had the best selection. I looked at the shops nearby but could find nothing so, on New Years Day -- Monday -- I did the search and then ordered six different fabrics (1 @ 1 yd and 5 @ 1/2 yd.) from them. I also e-mailed the shop and explained my predicament and asked if they could possibly expedite my order even tho' I was sure they would have a back log of stuff after the holiday. I got an e-mail from them first thing Tuesday morning saying that, yes, they had a back log but would do their best to get my order ready and shipped ASAP. Imagine my surprise when I got online again that evening and had an e-mail from them saying my order HAD BEEN SHIPPED! Now, I had some hope that it might get here by the weekend since I am just north of Atlanta and they are in Raleigh, NC -- not too terribly far away. Mail *should* be a bit quicker from a bordering state than it is across the country. Anyway, imagine my surprise when DH brought in the mail this evening and there was my package of fabric! Not only that, but not one of the fabrics is cut wonky and the one that is little 4" squares was cut nice and neat along the section of color between the squares! Heck, pricing was even reasonable at $7.25/yd. and I was charged *only* for the actual postage required! Obviously, I can't say enough good stuff about this LQS! I hope to get up there one day and say a big thanks to them personally. Until then, spreading the good word about them and their fantastic service will have to do :-). CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I won a prize from them on a Mall Crawl a couple of years ago. Got a big bunch of fat quarters. Gotta get them out and use them!

I've ordered from them a few times too, and I have to agree, their service is wonderful, and prices are very reasonable. Often, when I'm doing a search on quiltshops.com, they will have the best price. And I've never been disappointed with their fabric either....

I'm so glad you did that, Mary. I've been admiring the Beatrice Potter line(oh how I am hoping that this is what you've just received) and was somewhat afraid that it might be coarse or thin. I just must have smooth and sturdy. We don't want anything harsh against newborn skin, and thin would never live through constant laundering. The price you found is great too. So. Pretend you're a big kitty and go give it the QI test. Nevermind. I just realized that you have QIs on duty. Would you ask them for an opinion as to acceptability, please? Polly

Cassie (Baby Cat) the Himalayan, passed judgment on the fabric and found it acceptable :-)! I always zigzag the raw edges of new fabric and then toss the pieces on the floor. Once I have all the pieces zigzagged, I wash it all. Cassie came in an plopped her furry little body down in the midst of the pike of fabrics and immediately went to sleep :-)! The fabric is *very* nice and launders beautifully!!! It is very smooth and came out of the dryer with virtually no wrinkles. It has a nice soft hand and is also smooth to the touch. POLLY -- I would be happy to pass on what I have left after I finish this quilt. I have three different Peter Rabbit prints and I'm sure I will have leftovers to share with you :-). I had found one print at Hobby Lobby and I bough about three yards of it. I plan to use it to make the diaper stacker and the grocery cart seat cover thingie. It's not quite as nice as the stuff I got from the LQS but it is still a very nice fabric and certainly good enough for what I have planned. I will need to start acquiring other bunny fabrics so that I can make the SMDGD her birthday quilt. I want to have bunny fabrics that are a bit more feminine and less "baby" than the Peter Rabbit fabrics. She will be four this year and loves bunnies so I'll be on the lookout for some cute fabrics. Do you want only rabbit fabric? or are you happy with appliqué? If you are, check out Darcy Ashton,s patterns. I have her cats book, but she has also done a rabbit one. SuzieB has done a quilt from these patterns - and I can't for the life of me remember whether it was cats or bunnies? Help! They are beautiful, as they have little additional appliqués- like the cats have tiny mice and butterflies as well, so you can make a really lovely quilt. But - you might not do appliqué. So, it is just a thought. . In message , Tia Mary writes

It was bunnies - and they are just darling when done with 1930's repro's like she uses in the book Grandma's Bunnies - check out my webshots directory (link below), its in the "Julies new baby quilt" folder - together with a message from Darcy herself (even tho she got my name wrong!)
