There have been other posts, both positive and negative, about KnitPicks and I would like to share my recent experience. Last week, I ordered a book from KnitPicks. When it came, I was disappointed to see some strange spots on the cover and discoloring on the first page. The return information on the invoice indicated I would have to pay postage both ways to send it back and request another. It just took a call to their customer service to learn that's not the case when you want a replacement for defective merchandise. They will send me another copy and don't want me to return the first. I couldn't ask for a better response than that.
