How wonderful! All that work paid off and it's really good when you listen to your "inner quilter"! Congrats!
Congrats, Nel!
Happy dancing for you here - I haven't worked up the nerve to put anything in a show yet, so I'm full of admiration for your achievement.

Lost the original post, so I'm piggybacking here.... I'm not surprised that your blue and white quilt got First Prize. It is absolutely beautiful! (Need to visit your webpage to see the other quilt, but I can tell from the caliber of the work in your blue and white quilt that the Hilton will be fantastic too!)
Many, many congrats!

Thank you, you are very kind.
The blue and white one was the first thing I ever did, so it has a special place in my heart. It shows a learning curve like a reverse ski-jump and the stitching bears witness! It took so long to finish the stitches in the middle are twice the size of the ones on the outside.
The Hilton of Cadboll (now officially named 'Triskele') has a little less drama and was quilted with more celerity. However, I never liked the middle, it was too intricate for the space. The original H of C Stone has a blank centre, but blank here looked empty. So a fortnight ago I unpicked it and redid it. I'm much happier with it now.
I've got three more lined up, basted ready for quilting. I find I love these wholecloth pieces. No seams! I am trying hard to teach myself to use an under thimble to save my fingers, but it's an uphill struggle. However, practice is the charm!
