Before I go off the deep end (as I have been ever known to do), I thought I'd ask around here and see if any of you have heard of this.About 6 months ago, our guild board decided to put a new clause in our contract with speakers/presenters. We voted on it and it passed. I must have voted for it, though for the life of me I can't figure out why unless I just really, really wanted to get out of there.This is what the clause says "Venders and Presenters will pay the LBQG a flat rate of 10% on all sales of tools, patterns, etc. made during the workshop and the evening meeting. This will be payable at the end of the evening program."Well, I'm the Program Chair for next year and I'm telling you - Vendors and Presenters aren't liking this a bit. Most say they've never heard of it before, a couple that I was really counting on said "no thanks".I brought it up at Bored meeting last night and didn't really generate any interest in revisiting the issue in spite of (or maybe BECAUSE of) my whining.I told the board that I had told more than one person to just raise her fee to cover the loss.We had a person come from a long way away (Eleanor Burns' sister, Pat) last year. She didn't charge us a thing for the program or even expenses. She did sell a lot of patterns, fabric and rulers. I asked if we would have expected her to pay this 10 %? Nobody had an answer.I also told them there was no way I was going to be the one to go to these people with my hand out and beg for the 10%.Another woman just emailed me and asked what she was supposed to do about the sales tax issue? I told her I don't know.I don't know what to do. I am pretty sure I can't win this battle with this board, but I may have a better chance when we change over in October.Have any of you heard of this practice?Thanks for any thoughts even if it's just "shut up and sit down".Cindy

Connie :-) I'm using Outlook to post on my lappie (usually I use Thoth where I have my sig with my name) and I haven't been able to figure out how to do a durn sig in Outlook!!! Grrrrr!!

And I'm too durn brain-dead to remember to type "Connie" at the end of my posts - got so used to bein' spoiled by Thoth doin' it for me!

So, what you're sayin' is that the stump needs to change??

Ugh ... easy peasy if you're a PC person ... I'm Mac all the way and I'm doin' my best to get past the learnin' curve (haven't been "PC" since about

6 years ago!). And even then, I used regular ol' Outlook ... they seem a bit different - well, different enough to put a Mac-head like me in a tizzy!

Okay, I'm clueless ... I had to set this siggie by usin' Insert>Signature ... I thought it was s'posed to do that FOR me?!

I'm answerin' you here instead of privately 'cause to be honest, I can't figure out how to send you an e-mail usin' my newsgroups identity/personality.

I knew how in Thoth (knew how to do ALL this stuff in Thoth, actually) but Outlook ... well, it's really kickin' my butt.

In Outlook I've got regular siggies (for regular e-mail), but I can't seem to make it work with newsgroups. I don't have Office set up yet ... does that matter? :-/

Oh well, I think I'm goin' to go see who else offers e-mail software - either that of set up Outlook (with Office) - THAT Outlook I know. Express is just ... makin' my head hurt! :-)

oh come on, Connie, no one is 'unteachable', i just gotta work out a different way to splain it, thats all.

the 'advanced' button on the siggys tab is where you set it for mail or newsgroups. highlight the addy, then hit the 'advanced' button. you'll see the mail/news thing when you get there. then when you've made any changes, hit 'apply'.

oh and to reply to my email to you should just be able to hit reply on whatever email reader you're using. i'm still here or email me at san-fran at ihug dot co dot nz jeanne
