Halloween and Purple

When did purple become part of Halloween Not that I'm complaining. I participated in a 10" square Halloween fabric swap a couple of years ago. That's when I noticed the purple sneaking in. I can always remember little splashes of green too.

I have a Halloween quilt kit to make for my DD and DGS and it called to me because of all the purple in it. I think the purple comes from the color of witches clothing and such. It's always been a dark and eerie color. It's most often seen lining vampire capes and such. And it's doubly fabulous paired with green. Can you tell my favs are purple and green????
