Harrogate Quilt show

Some maybe! But many will be heading for the Selsey, Sussex, UK show that starts Friday 25th August! :-)))

Not this year, but I might get up there again next - if it is still around? Could you enquire a bit if you go, to see whether it is going to be axed from the calendar? There are a lot of rumours down here, I fear. I enjoyed it so much when I went. The number of quilts entered into the Malvern show has reduced greatly over the past five years, but I understand that those for Harrogate have also reduced - and they didn't have as many to start with. But what on Earth are "Tuscan colors?" All I can think of is "wine-dark sea," which doesn't help much!

I love Kathy's idea of a month-long trip to Tuscany! Failing that, I tend to think of Tuscan colors as golds, deep oranges, burgundies, plums, darkish greens. I could be wrong, but that's my perception.

We ususally go to the Harrogate Show in November and the Birmingham show this month. I suppose this is the problem with the smaller shows. Quilters etc seem to congregate towards Birmingham which isnt helping the regional shows. Each of the groups are encouraging their members to enter their quilts into the smaller shows to keep them 'alive'. I went to Malvern this year for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it even though the weather at the time was atrocious lol. I also thought the standard of quilts were really good. Irene uk

I usually see butter cream, brick red, teal, khaki, olive green, and softer shades of reddish/browns

But that is just me. I just imagined the colours to be at least similar to what is often called "Mediterranean" colours.

Thanks, Kathy. These are lovely sites. The first one is in Salado, between me and Austin, beautiful town, and there's a quilt shop there, too. ;-D Soon as it cools off a bit, time for a Cruise down I-35.

Oh no, I really hope it doesn't get axed, it's the only quilt show I can get to. I didn't manage to get there last year which I was really disappointed with but DS2 was only 4 wks old at the time. The NEC show looks great but with a minimum of a 3 hour journey to get there I would need to stay the night and that is just not going to happen.
