Heh. A new wallhanging?

I joined a block swap awhile back. The blocks were due to be mailed today. So... ever the procrastinator, I went to the LQS on Tuesday after deciding that nothing in my stash would do and agonized over four fabrics.

Brought them home, made up the blocks, I was done yesterday. Hurray!

So I bring them to work to mail, and look up the address at my yahoo group and notice a post mentioning that some would like more time if possible.

Good thing, too... because I also notice that I MADE THE BLOCK IN THE WRONG SIZE. The pattern had two sizes, and I made the smaller one.

So now I've placed a call to the LQS (a VERY long drive) to ask if they would please send more fabric to this very muddle-minded quilter.

I'm thinking of making a wallhanging with my smaller blocks - if I can stand it. I am sure that after making the new blocks I will be heartily tired of my fabric choices.

Well, I thought all was settled on Thursday (Thanksgiving). A manager called and asked me to fax a copy of my driver's license (not sure what they wanted to do with it, but I was in no place to argue). She 'settled' for email (like I could find a fax machine on Turkey day?!?). So DD and I thought all was well. But the next day DD was awakened in the early am by a phone call from yet another manager. She called me to say they were again threatening to kick her out.

This time, I was VERY DANGED TICKED OFF and yet, much more calm. I told the gentleman, in no uncertain terms, to stop threatening to cast out my dd and her girlfriend. He stated he wasn't threatening her; indeed, he said, he had told her that he 'did not WANT to have to resort to kicking her out'. Sounded like a threat to me. So I had them put a notice on her room number that should any issues whatsoever arise they must contact ME, since they were not treating her as an adult - they could not harass her as if she were one.

She left Sunday, and arrived home safe. And we shall never again stay at any Crown Plaza resort

i'm glad to hear she is home safe and well. sad to hear she could not enjoy her vacation away without all the threats. i agree those were indeed threats. now you should write an email and send it off to the president or ceo of the hotel chain and tell him what you think about how they treat their paying customers. perhaps they need to upgrade their computer reservations to include the fact that they dont allow under 21yo's to stay there without an adult (try splain'n that to someone under 21 who in the military and serves overseas). grrrrrrrrrr. still think tis very odd indeed how they expect to fill their rooms with kind of 'customer service'. i understand your not wanting to stay at the Crown Plaza chain again but a letter to the Pres/CEO might get you some free rooms for their bad service. worth a try at least, eh. do let us know what happens. hugz to your DD for putting up with a bad situation and to you for surviving how they treated her. j.

If you're in the mood to possibly get the hotel chain some publicity, you might want to try contacting Ben Popken at the Consumerist website:
