Multiply-noreply?? OT Perhaps?

I have received about 8 e-mails today, from Multiply-noreply, telling me all sorts of nonsense about the messages I have posted to RCTQ today (to the effect, basically, that they haven't been received - but they are on the group messages). DH has just had a look at them, and they don't seem to be sinister. His theory is that someone has set up to receive RCTQ messages as e-mails, and 'mine' have been 'bounced'. Has anyone else been plagued by this? or is it perhaps because they don't like 'where I'm coming from'?

I've been getting them too. then this afternoon I got an email from someone, saying that they had just joined Multiply and were inviting me to join to! I'm thinking it's one of these things you join that then sends emails to everyone in your address book asking them to join to. So I think perhaps someone on our group has joined Multiply and the bounce is coming from that persons email.

These things get annoying, but I don't think it's dangerous.

They're picking on me too. Well . . . at least they were. I just added them to my block senders list and I don't see them anymore. Emptying the recycle bin is easy enough. It is a good thing to be suspicious about junk like that. Just last week my brother received a message that something needed updating ... had to do with Windows, I believe. He clicked it and it cost him nearly $200 to have it scrubbed. Beware of the innocent-looking - like our Pat on Her Hill, for example. We can't be too careful. Polly

There's one sitting on our message queue, for my spamtrap address.

They seem to be pretty evil. Some kind of mailing list "consolidation" service with NO WAY TO UNSUBSCRIBE and which is quite happy to include Usenet mail-to-news gateways as if they were individual email addresses. They only way they are likely to shut up is if their connectivity provider pulls the plug on them.

Whoever it was here has a subscription to them - please do us all a favour: abandon the email address you sent them and never use it again, and never post anything to any list you subscribed to using it (not even unsubscribe messages - just let all email to that old address fall into a black hole). That *might* help get things under control, but I wouldn't count on it. Basically you've handed your address over to a spammer.

People who use Yahoo services seem to be the worst affected. Why am I not surprised?

I've gotten them too! I was going to look into this "multiply" program today. I have heard of it and I think someone has used it for email services. Will see what I see later today.

Thanks Sandy,, I had a great day/week. Still have a couple more bd lunches next week. How fun is that? I'll hit the quilt store for BD discount next week too. The day ended with an earthquake. That was definitely a first! I already had a piece of cake for breakfast today too. I'm happy. Taria
