Hi Karen When I've tested perle cotton or even embroidery floss, I get a clean white towel, and cut a couple of hunks about a foot long (each) and then lay them on the towel and spray with hot water. Check the towel to see if any color is on it...... I've also heard you can cut some off and just put it in a clear glass of hot water and see if the water turns color, but I've never tried that method.

i'd try putting a wee length of it in the fold of a light fabric, then using your usual cotton setting, dry iron it and check if any colour shows on the light fabric. then give it a good hot steam press too and see if anything shows. that should cover all aspects that would be usual problems if theres going to be any.... hot and dry, hot and wet. i'd also do some rubbing (dry and wet) on the light fabric in case that might be an issue. hmmm, i wonder if different laundry soaps would be a worry? i'm no expert, its just how i'd test'em. jeanne
