HUG label help

Jun 08, 2007 17 Replies

I need help writing a label for a HUG quilt going to a friend with Parkinson's. I started to write one by saying "when life gets you down" but I really want something more positive. I'll try to insert a link to a photo of the quilt. It was made with her in mind and the colors of her home....terra cotta. Earthy and warm.

I hope the links work. Anyway, I would welcome suggestions for appropriate wording........

Thanks. Laurie G. in CA

The label I made for this quilt --

-- for my dear friend's late husband while he was undergoing chemotherapy a few years ago had this quote on it: ?While we cannot control the wind, we can always control our sails.? He said it was comforting. Your quilting looks sort of like wind, at least in that closeup :-) You could find a quote about stars that is inspiring and/or comforting too. Love the quilt!

Lovely quilt and beautiful quilting. I know your friend will cherish it.

A name for it escapes me right now but it's beautiful and the quilting is GORGEOUS! Your friend will love it.

I don't have any suggestions for the label but the quilt is beautiful and so is your quilting!!!

Thanks to you all! I have to say I am really pleased with the quilt. I would like to make another one.....it was an easy pattern. I'm taking it with me on vacation to show the ladies in the shop where I bought the fabric. Then, my dh ( the recipient is an employee of his) and I will present it to her. I hope it provides many hours of comfort for her........

It's a lovely quilt, Laurie; but I'm afraid I can't think of a good label wording. Sorry - but it's still lovely! . In message , Laurie G. writes

I'm poor at labels, but this is a gorgeous quilt! Love the border -did you use it on the back too? Roberta in D

Laurie, can't help you with the label, but the quilt and quilting is just beautiful. Heidi from Germany "Laurie G." schrieb:

please remove quilt from address and substitute the obvious with @ and dot

I'm no good with wording that sort of thing, Laurie, but the quilt is a knock-out! The quilting really *makes* it!

No ideas, but that sure is a gorgeous quilt! I'm sure your friend will love and cherish it.

What a lovely, lovely quilt! You did a terrific job - good luck finding the "perfect" quote.

Don't know if this will help or not, but here's a link to the hug quilt label I did recently for a friend who's husband left for his second tour in Iraq. I was also clueless what to put on the label. When I sat down to actually do it, the words just flowed.
