I hadn't even considered the secondary pattern (in many of the quilts I make the blocks for, I tend to be a "sasher" in order to extend the size of the quilt). That is an excellent point!
You could combine both ideas by sewing four blocks together into a square so that you have one pinwheel in the center of each set of four blocks, then sew the sets together with sashing and pinwheel corner posts. Debra in VA See my quilts at
