Inkjet for labels--help!!

I've done a number of labels that came out just fine. I don't know that they'll last for a century, but mine aren't heirloom anyway. The thing is, I absolutely cannot seem to get a decent, non-smudgy, looks- good-after-the-finishing-wash label now. It's the same printer (Epson

800), their inks, and the same fabrics (EQ Printables, Printed Treasures).

I'm beginning to wonder whether Epson changed their ink.

Any recommendations for an inkjet printer known to do labels well? Yes, I'm that desperate!

Did you change ink (as in the cartridge) and then the problem occurred? Or did you start a new pack of Printables fabric?

Could be either, I think.

Sorry, don't have an answer otherwise. But if you have another pack of paper available, I'd test with that before buying a new printer.

I vaguely remember a very thorough survey of printers/ink/labels in, I think, QNM some years ago. I could go toss my stack of them and find the article but things change so much and so fast I don't suppose it would be very helpful to us now. Sit tight and we'll wait to see if anyone has up-to-date data. Probably heaps of our quilters are out shoveling snow. Polly

Quilter's Home had one a year or so ago -- not sure if I have it or not -- will have to venture into the abyss I call a sewing studio to see if I can find it.

I don't know about the cartridges since I hadn't done a label in several months and my husband uses the printer for other stuff. I did try several sheets from different packs (different brands, too). The packs had all been open, so I was wondering whether there may have been a use-within a certain time frame that I'd passed.

The only problem that I've had with older inkjet printer fabric sheets is that they can yellow over time. I am presuming that is due to the glue and/or other chemicals that would be removed after washing the finished label (or other product).
