Miniature quilts

I've just completed my second miniature, paper pieced quilt and have no idea how to quilt it. A picture of the quilt can be seen here:

It's the "Fall Wreath" pattern in the bottom row. Eventually, I think I'd like to put mine into a frame. Since it's so small, I've seriously considered hand quilting, maybe outlining the inner and outer edges of the leaves, or I could go with a "miniature machine stippling" in the solid areas. Or, small "veins" in the leaves. I've googled miniatures, and how-to's, and can't seem to come up with anything. Any ideas?Alice in PA

I think I would put an extra layer of batting under the leaves - however you decide to quilt them. Hand quilting outlines and veins might be a good idea. In the centre space, where you already have four squares, I would quilt maple leaves - the same as (or similar to) the coloured ones, perhaps with a double row of quilting stitches. Perhaps the outside area could soften a bit by quilting leaves and stems and tendrils?

The things to remember are - the stitches should be very small (you are making a scale 'model'), so your thread and needle should be fine. I use a 70/10 and, if possible, 100wt silk thread whenever I can.

Howdy!

Leaves in the center and outer corners; large circles/rings thru' the colored leaves. The wreath is a circle; the theme is leaves; that covers it for me. Handquilting, of course

Cheers!

I think this is what I'm leaning toward........leaves, leaves, and more leaves!

Of course! It's going to be my "while watching TV in the evening" project. Thanks for your thoughts!
