Mr Joe

has OFFICIALLY retired today. It's his 62nd HB. So we are gonna celebrate tonight.

I got him the US Flag to put up on our outdoor pole (we need a new one) . And then for the FUN gift:

I'm getting him razor blades for his shaver. (Tee Hee) He's gonna love it : )

Butterfly (he won't get books until Christmas --tradition there)

Congratulations! I hope you're very, very happy and busy! And I hope the adjustment goes well. Well-meaning retired husbands can drive you nuts at first, I hear.

CONGRATULATIONS! I was able to take "early retirement" in 2002, and have not regretted it for a single minute! (The Governor, George Ryan, may now be in federal prison, but he did two very good things while still in office. One was to decide not to run for a second term, but the one close to my heart is his signing an early retirement bill for State employees!) It was a serious financial cut, but the house and car are paid for and in very good shape, and I manage by just being careful. I have never understood people who suffer after retirement, claiming there is nothing to do, and want to give them a good shake and say GET A LIFE! I stay home to entertain the cat and the dog, knit, crochet, tat, and quilt, take care of the yard, bake bread and cook for the freezer, read, go out with friends, and travel a bit. Wonderful!

Already told him he can have full rein on all the household things including cooking. Gives me more time for quilting, crocheting, knitting, etc, etc, etc.

Thank you for all the Well Wishes! He had a very nice relaxed day. Didn't find the razor blades but heard of a specialty store at a 'new-to-us' mall here in Phoenix that might carry them. He appreciated the flag.

The Grocery Store bought cake was very good. Surprisingly so! Had fluffy frosting that wasn't very sweet. I made him his fav dinner: roast, winter squash, potatoes, corn (cut from the cob), salad, Cake and Ice Cream.

I agree 100% Mary....there are so many things one can do to keep busy. I sooooooooo look forward to my retirement!! And I'll be able to do that at 62. Those many years with my x will now be repaid.... :0

Enjoy every second that you have, Mary, and I wish and pray you have years and years yet to do exactly as you please!
