That would do it this year. I have NOT unpacked the cookbooks and I will not fudge that recipe. Took me years to 'perfect it' and now no others hold a candle to it :( Got everything I needed to make it and NO COOKBOOK and I am not unpacking all the kitchen boxes to find it...he will just have to wait until we have moved ; )

Butterfly (He said he didn't NEED it right now anyway-------)

Oh, that's easy. I make a mean fruit cake. Got some in the fridge as we speak fermenting in Brandy!

That wont fly--he doesn't drink or even 'eat' stuff like that....made rum balls one Christmas--won't do that again...even with just the rum flavoring. Like I said, it is a well tweaked recipe after 33 yrs of practice and changes :)

Try again

I kept my mum's famous (top secret during her life time) recipe for Southern Boiled Fruit Cake - but I haven't seen it for a while. Not much into dried fruit in any form. It had brandy, sherry AND Tia Maria in it as I recall!!

Now if it was refrigerated cheese cake you were after . . . . . . . . . that I make REALLY well!

These days if I have to make a fruit cake I just use the quick-and-easy method where you soak the fruit in either coffee or OJ and then just mix and cook. Doesn't keep as long as more complicated traditional recipes, but storage has never been a problem 'cos there's never any left over.
